Top 10 "The Fray" Songs

For those of you that know me well, you'll know that The Fray is my all time favorite band. I finally got to see them live when I was 19 (and touch the lead singer *fangirling*) and it was the best night of my life. While I think all of their songs are fantastic, here's the top 10.

10. I Can Barely Say- "Scars and Stories"

This is such beautiful song. It tells the story of how a man fighting for his love has said everything he can say and he chose to leave, but he wants to return and fight for her. I think the piano and the beautiful vocals just really showcase how touching the song is.

9. Our Last Days- "Helios"

This is yet another great song about love. This song talks about how the love of two people will last until their last days on Earth. It's such an upbeat, great song.

8. Love Don't Die- "Helios"

This is such a fun, upbeat song. The music video is just as fun. This song is about how even after your loved one passes on, love never dies. The music video features Candace Accola King, who is married to the lead guitarist and assistant vocalist Joe King, and has been featured on her show The Vampire Diaries, as well as several of their other songs.

7. Heaven Forbid- "How to Save a Life"

This is such great, simple song. It talks about how even if you end up alone in life, everything will be okay.

6. Be Still- "Scars and Stories"

This is arguably one of their most beautiful, simple songs on record. It features just the lead singer Isaac Slade and a piano. Originally written as a lullaby for his brother, this song has also be interpreted as God talking to the listener, as well as relating to a very popular Psalm. It's beautiful, simple, and wonderful.

5. Over My Head (Cable Car)- "How to Save a Life"

Such a great, popular song from their debut album. Originally about Isaac's brother Caleb and how they didn't speak for some time, it talks about how life is easily very overwhelming and things can get "over your head".

4. Look After You- "How to Save a Life"

I love this song so much. It is such a great love song about how no matter what, the singer will always look after the person he loves.

3. You Found Me- "The Fray"

This song is so great. It also has been interpreted as the singer talking to God, since the opening line says "I found God on the corner of First and Lonestar." It talks about how even when he was lost and insecure, God found him.

2. Never Say Never- "The Fray"

This is my all time favorite song by The Fray. I didn't put it as number one, however, for one reason- it's not nearly as meaningful as "How to Save a Life". I still think it's a fantastic song. It talks about how a couple who fall in and out of love need to fight to stay together because he doesn't want to let her go. It's been featured on shows such as The Vampire Diaries and One Tree Hill and is even featured in the film and on the soundtrack for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

1. How to Save a Life- "How to Save a Life"

This is arguably the most well-known The Fray song. This song, made popular by Grey's Anatomy, launched the band into mainstream music. It was also covered on Grey's in their musical episode in season 7. It has gone on to be covered multiple times by multiple artists. The song was originally written by Slade to reflect his time working with troubled youth, and has been a message for fighting grief and depression since its debut in 2005.

I will always love The Fray. Their music speaks to me in ways I can't even describe. Thank you for changing my life with your music.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
