2016 is over! (thank goodness!!)

Let's recap all the bad things happened in this last year.

Donald Trump was elected President of the United States of America

The DEVASTATING Orlando massacre that occurred at Pulse Nightclub

The awful terrorist attacks in Nice (France), Istanbul, and Brussels (Belgium)

Hurricane Matthew

DISNEY Gator Attack

We lost amazing talent such as Prince, Alan Rickman, Muhammad Ali, David Bowie, Nancy Reagan, Gene Wilder, Carrie Fisher, and Debbie Reynolds

Harambe was shot dead at the Cincinnati Zoo

I think it's safe to say that most of us would like to leave 2016 behind us. However, 2016 was not all bad as it brought us some amazing music. 2016 was filled with songs about love, heartbreak, and living life.

Here's a list of my top 10 songs from 2016 accompanied by my favorite lyrics. These songs are the only part of 2016 I'd like to keep.

1. Closer - The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey

I know it breaks your heart
Moved to the city in a broke down car
And four years, no call
Now I'm looking pretty in a hotel bar
And I can't stop
No, I can't stop

2. Heathens - Twenty One Pilots

All my friends are heathens, take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse

3. Bad Things - Machine Gun Kelly & Camilla Cabello

I want you forever
Even when we're not together
Scars on body so I look at you whenever

4. This Is What You Came For - Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna

Baby, this is what you came for
Lightning strikes every time she moves
And everybody's watching her
But she's looking at you, oh, oh

5. Needed Me - Rihanna

I was good on my own, that's the way it was, that's the way it was

6. Treat You Better - Shawn Mendes

I'll stop time for you
The second you say you'd like me to
I just wanna give you the loving that you're missing
Baby, just to wake up with you
Would be everything I need and this could be so different
Tell me what you want to do

7. Mercy - Shawn Mendes

Please have mercy on me
Take it easy on my heart
Even though you don't mean to hurt me
You keep tearing me apart

8. Cold Water - Major Lazer feat. Justin Bieber

Everybody gets high sometimes, you know
What else can we do when we're feeling low?
So take a deep breath and let it go
You shouldn't be drowning on your own

9. Let Me Love You - DJ Snake feat. Justin Bieber

I used to believe
We were burnin' on the edge of somethin' beautiful

10. Love Me Now - John Legend

I don't know who's gonna kiss you when I'm gone
So I'm gonna love you now, like it's all I have
I know it'll kill me when it's over
I don't wanna think about it, I want you to love me now

A Few Thoughts Every College Freshman Has

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Sister | Brother Style - Word Press

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
