I'm sure both you and I have been there; you have just finished a series/movie on Netflix and you are CLUELESS as to what you should watch next. I know not everyone will agree with me on this list, but they are a couple of my absolute favorites.
Shameless
This is by far one of my favorite series. At first, my mom was obsessed with it and after she had told me to watch it for months, I finally decided to try it and I fell in love. The plot is basically about an alcoholic, drug addict father (William H. Macy), who deserts his family, leaving 20-something Fiona (Emmy Rossum) to take care of her five siblings. This series follows their crazy family and everything they go through in the six seasons they currently have on Netflix.
Nurse Jackie
Yet another show about a druggie! This fantastic series was also recommended to me by my mom, and it tells the story of a nurse who finds comfort in Vicodin, Percocet, and anything of that nature. She uses the excuse of her hurting her back to get the medicine from the hospital pharmacist and lover, Eddie. Oh, and did I mention she was married with two kids? She's a mess, but it makes for a good series!
Orange Is The New Black
How can I write an article about Netflix shows and NOT include this series? It is pure genius and if you haven't caught yourself up on the current four seasons, you should do so ASAP. The series follows Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) and her life in Litchfield along with everyone she meets. It is filled with laughter, tears, and constantly being on the edge of your seat.
Grey's Anatomy
This series summed up in two words: MUST SEE. Even if you are not interested in medical shows, there is enough drama to sub out the medical terminology. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) is the "star" of the show and this series follows her and everyone she comes to meet in Seattle Grace (soon to become Grey Sloan Memorial), whether they get along or not.
Pretty Little Liars
Although I have not finished this series, it has come to be one of my favorites. Aria, Spencer, Emily, and Hannah go through the mysteries of finding who is tormenting them with texts, threatening to reveal their deepest secrets, but the trick is that these texts seem to be coming from their dead friend, Allison. If you are looking for a great mystery series, definitely check this one out.
How To Get Away With Murder
This series doesn't have as many seasons as many of the others do, but it is definitely a nail-biter. To me, I cannot watch many episodes in one sitting though. It takes a lot of brainpower to think about how the episodes will turn out in the end. There is one main case throughout the entire series, then in each episode, there is a smaller case that Annaliese Keating (Viola Davis) and her students take on together.
American Horror Story
I won't lie, I was incredibly happy to find out that AHS was on Netflix. They have Murder House, Asylum, Coven, and Freak Show, but it's a matter of time before they add Hotel to the collection. I love this series because it encompasses one of my favorite movie genres without being too scary that you never watch it again. Each season is completely different, but they mostly star the same actors.
Making a Murderer
Along with "How To Get Away With Murder," this series definitely makes you think. There were times when I had to rewatch a couple of episodes because I didn't quite understand what happened. I believe that there were rumors of a second season? (But I could be wrong.) Anywho, this series follows the story of Steven Avery and everything he had to go through with his multiple cases of murder.
Friends
I'm sure everyone and their mother has seen at least one episode of "Friends." This series follows Joey, Phoebe, Ross, Rachel, Monica, and Chandler in every single crazy adventure they go on in their ten seasons. This series is something very special to me considering my boyfriend and I made a pact to only watch it together, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to continue watching
That '70s Show
I have loved this show since I was 14 or so. It would always be on "Nick at Nite" and I'd make sure to stay up to watch it. The "gang," or Kelso, Fez, Donna, Jackie, Hyde, and Eric always seem to go on the most fun adventures and always manage to get out of trouble whenever Eric's stickler dad, Red would catch him and his buddies doing something incredibly stupid.
Netflix has come to be something that everyone has, and if you don't, there's something wrong with you. I admit, I love having most of the shows I love right at my fingertips (I just wish they showed RuPaul's Drag Race), and I know a lot of people would disagree with my list, but if you are ever wanting to watch something different, feel free to choose from any of my top 10!
