The 10 Best Restaurants in Charlottesville, VA

In honor of being away from my hometown, Charlottesville, Virginia, I've decided to name some of the best restaurants from my hometown that i've eaten out at:

1. Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Charlottesville i've eaten at- largely, in part, because the sausage and peppers rustica is the best Italian dish I've ever had.

2. Burtons Grill

Another great restaurant located in the Stonefield Shopping Center. Burtons has a great variety of American classics ranging from pastas, seafoods, sandwiches etc. My favorite thing to eat at Burtons is the Maxx Burger which features Angus beef, as well as a special sauce to make the burger standout.

3. Mellow Mushroom

If you're addicted to pizza, like I am, this is the best place in Charlottesville to get your pizza fix. Mellow Mushroom has a wide variety of pizzas with different toppings and sauces. My favorite pizza would have to be the mighty meaty which features meatballs, ham, pepperoni and bacon with a parmesan crust.

4. Bodo's Bagels

Bodo's has the best New York style bagels in all of Charlottesville and is one of the most popular restaurants consistently amongst locals. My favorite thing to get from Bodo's is a Bacon Egg and Cheese on a Cinnamon Raisin Bagel which is amazing.

5. Sedona Taphouse

A great restaurant with an even better atmosphere and wonderful food. I was really impressed with the Flat Iron Steak with Mushroom Cream Sauce that I ordered. The steak was so tender and melted in your mouth.

6. Moe's BBQ

This is by far one of the best barbecue restaurants in Charlottesville. Moe's is known for a great pulled pork sandwich with a toasted bun as well as being know for having a wide variety of different sides such as Oreo Mud Pie and Cornbread.

7. Ole Virginia Fried Chicken

A small chicken shack, which has the best fried chicken in Charlottesville. In addition, the mashed potatoes and gravy are the best potatoes I've ever had, as well as the fried chicken being the best ever.

8. Yearbook Taco Bar

An up and coming restaurant on the downtown mall that offers a great range of Mexican food from tacos, burritos and much more. My favorite plate of food would have to be the chorizo burrito served with a green tomatillo salsa on top.

9. The Nook Restaurant

This restaurant is named Charlottesville's Original Downtown Diner and offers a vast number of choices and a classic diner feel. My favorite meal would have to be a chocolate Oreo milkshake to go with a chili stuffed grilled cheese sandwich, which was very tasty.

10. Fry's Spring Station

The building of this restaurant used to be a car mechanics garage. I ate at this place in May of 2015 under original ownership and I thought the food was very light and well executed. My favorite plate of food from this restaurant would be a warm chocolate chip cookie cooked in a skillet with vanilla ice cream. This restaurant has changed ownership since then but it's better than ever.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
