It seemed like winter break would never, ever come, but congratulations! You've survived finals and can now relax for the next 2 weeks - month (I only have 2 weeks, kind of salty about it). Thanksgiving break is great, but it only gives you a taste of what you get to enjoy during winter break. You still have to return to school on the same class schedule, and worry about all the finals you didn't study for. Now, you're finally on a break with no school-related responsibilities. Check out the top 10 reasons (in no particular order) why winter break is the best!

1. No more shower shoes

2. No homework, tests, or papers to worry about

3. You finally have time to work more hours and make some cash

4. You get to see all your friends from home

5. No more 8 ams to wake up for

6. Your meal plan includes home-cooked meals

7. You get to hang out with your pet

8. You no longer have to feel guilty for binge-watching Netflix

9. No more finals to worry about

10. You get to spend the holidays with your loved ones

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
