Here are the top 10 reasons why you should choose to come to UNA:
1. We have live lions, how cool is that?
We have two live lions on campus; this is probably one of the things we are most known for.
2. The campus is beautiful
You cannot come to UNA and think it isn't pretty. The old buildings were exquisitely built, and our fountain has tile that was brought it in from Italy. There are twinkle lights hanging above several main walk ways and are lit at night.
3. It is the perfect size
There are roughly 7,000 undergrad students at UNA. Not too big, and not too small. You can walk through campus and see someone you know within three minutes. You get to be a big fish in a small pond!
4. It's not far from popular cities
It's not far from Decatur, Tupelo, Nashville, Knoxville, Huntsville, or Birmingham.
5. We are one big happy family
Everyone here loves UNA so much, even the town. During the Homecoming parade, the whole city of Florence comes out to watch. They are so supportive of our school and the students. Our mutual love for UNA is what makes us a family.
6. The faculty and staff care so much about the students
The professor to student ratio is small, and professors actually want to meet with you and learn your name. You are not just a face in an auditorium. Also, our university president lives right on campus, plays football with his kids right on his front lawn, and even eats at our campus cafeteria with his family. Plus, the career center really wants to see you succeed and find a job, don't be afraid to take advantage of the things offered on campus!
7. On-campus Starbucks
This was a big thing for me. I practically live at the Starbucks on campus, and I don't know what I would do without it. I don't think I have to say more.
8. Florence is such a cute college town
More times than not, I will log on to my Facebook account and see a link to a website on my feed saying, "Top 10 Southern Cities." And guess what? Florence will have made it. The downtown is full of local shops and restaurants.
9. McFarland Park
This is a park in the middle of Florence that sits on back waters of the Tennessee River, and it is the perfect place to ENO, have a picnic, study, or watch a sunset. It's also the perfect spot for an engagement!
10. Last but not least, God is on the move!
People here are not afraid to show their faith. Our former Miss UNA, and current SGA president both have spoken about their faith. Also, campus ministries are springing and multiplying. I have witnessed the growth of just a two year old Christian RSO (Resident Student Organization). We had to move buildings because we had outgrown our old one. It is not hard to find a Christian community.
