Now, these are simply my top 10 favorite reaction GIFs, so don't be upset if your favorite is not here. Though, after years on Tumblr, years on Facebook, and months on GroupMe, I have become very experienced in the art of posting reaction GIFs.
For those of you who don't know what GIFs are, by definition, a GIF is "a lossless format for image files that supports both animated and static images." Basically, a GIF looks like a soundless image-like clip from any sort of video—whether it be from a movie, your favorite TV show, etc. A reaction GIF is usually used to reply— in a comical way— to any sort of statement or question that is posted online.
So, now that we have the basics down, here are some of the funniest reaction GIFs I have ever seen and/or used.
10. Dave Chappelle Dance
Did your professor cancel class or push a test back? Want to share this great news with the world? Here's a suitable reaction! Generally, this GIF can be used as a reaction for anything good happening in your life. "Me, when I got an email from my teacher telling us that he cancelled class" would be a great caption for this one.
9. The Usher Knee-Slide
The Usher knee-slide GIF is a great GIF for apologizing to a friend. Perhaps you typed or said something wrong and didn't mean it. In any case, no one can resist this strong of an apology.
8. Grandpa Simpson
Did you enter the GroupMe chat at the wrong time? Did someone say something obscure on Twitter, Tumblr, or Facebook? This GIF is a great reaction for any of those what-the-heck-did-I-just-walk-into situations. If you're reading this on mobile, save away!

Did someone say something really left, or in other words, unexpected? Are you confused why your friend said something about licking feet? Are you confused why some female is lying about dating someone out of her league? Put them in their by place by reacting with the question-mark man. "What?" "What the heck?" or "Girl, I know you ain't dating him -- you lying" are suitable captions for this GIF, depending on the situation.

Are you watching a roasting or joaning battle take place over the internet? Did your friend say a line that was eventually used against him? Here's a good example of when to use this GIF.

Unlike all the other GIFs I've shared so far, this one only works in this specific situation: when all of your friends might have failed a test. But, when the situation presents itself, this GIF is perfect and hilarious.

This GIF is perfect for calmly exposing your friends. Perhaps he or she has lied about something? Or maybe one of your friends is trying to diss you but failed to remember that you know all of their secrets. Either way, the real truth has been exposed -- just like this lady's scalp.
3. The chicken was lovely!
Are you're friends arguing or fighting via group message or social media? Well, then this GIF is perfect for those awkward situations when you have no idea of what to say. Use this GIF, and you'll be able to break at least some of the tension.

Having a great, relaxed day until you suddenly remember something? Did someone say something weird in the group chat? Forgot to take the chicken out the freezer and your mom will be home in 10 minutes? Either way, this GIF is very versatile.

Now, this GIF can basically be used in any situation. Everything is spotless about it: the side eye, James walking away, just everything.
