Top 10 Quotes: The Positivity List

Positive quotes are probably one of the most overly posted items on social media, and you might be thinking "great, here is another list of complete bullsh*t" But hear me out. These quotes really are important, to everyone out there, because everyone, at some point, has said the words "I can't do this anymore". These quotes, are for those times.

10) “I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day- Vincent Van Goh.

This simple reminder is important as it reminds us that dark times have their beauty and their purpose. When we find the color in the world even in the dark, living through tough times gets a little bit easier.

9) “When things go wrong, don’t go with them” –Elvis Presley

This one is especially difficult for people to remember. When thing turn sour, we have the tendency to want to follow them down a darker path. The truth is when something goes wrong, just let it go wrong, and don’t dwell, because no one else will.

8) “It always seems impossible until it’s done”- Nelson Mandela

Just a simple slice of daily motivation, especially when difficult situations lie ahead. When things are done, they always seem a lot easier.

7) “If you fell down yesterday, stand up today”- H.G. Wells

Another small piece of motivation. Don’t let a bad situation continue that way. Get up and move on, so little things don’t weigh you down.

6) “Positive anything is better than negative nothing”-Elbert Hubbard

Positivity is always important. It’s exactly as the quote says, if you have any form of positivity with you, you’re already doing good.

5) “Life is tough my darling, but so are you”- Stephanie Bennett Henry

This has a personal touch, and can make someone feel strong even at their weakest moment. When someone demeans or insults you, keep in mind you are the bigger person, and so much stronger than anyone cruel.

4) “Keep your head high, your chin up, but most importantly keep smiling because life is a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about” –Marilynn Monroe

I’ve written an entirely different article on why smiling is important, and this just reiterates how important a single smile is. And there really is so much to be happy about, even when times seem bleak.

3) “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind” –Dr. Seuss

Yes, Dr. Seuss is in this list of quotes. Because this is an idea we tend to forget. There are a lot of people in this world. Very few of them will truly mean something to you, so don’t let the others get to you.

2) “Magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you can make anything happen”- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I’m a total fantasy nerd. So this quote makes me so happy, and is truly empowering, because it’s a reminder that we are far more powerful than we know.

1) “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”- Unknown

I have found attributions for several people for this quote, so honestly, I’m not quite sure where it came from. But it takes the number one spot for a reason. It reminds us that success isn’t everything. If you try to reach your goal, and you reach it, great. If you try to reach your goal and you don’t reach it, also great. The key part is that you tried, and even the worst of failures can lead to the greatest of opportunities.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
