Thanksgiving is a great time to catch up with family and friends. It's also a good time when the adults who may or may not know you very well can ask all sorts of questions that you hate answering. This list more-so applies to the freshmen but can apply to most other college students as well.
1. How's school?
How am I supposed to answer this question? "It's good" Sure let's go with that.
2. What grade are you in now?
Actually, you've probably been getting this question since you were old enough to answer it. So this one's not that bad and it's a quick answer.
3. How's the food up there?
I heard this question get asked at least 3 times. I'm sorry: why do you care? Leave me and my pizza alone.
4. Oh, boy I remember college... how much fun are you having?
Something to imply that they to partied in college (although the drinking age may have been 18 when they were in college) This is supposed to make you think they're cool and relatable and won't relay any reply you make to your parents. Incredible. Who would've thought?
5. Who did you vote for?
Oh, God, no, please!
6. Did you gain weight?
Probably...and they know it.
7. Did you get taller?
Unlikely...you've probably reached your max height at this point.
8. What's your major?
Caution on this one. "Undecided" is a good answer if you think they'll just drop the subject. However, you run the risk of them asking you if you have ANY idea at ALL in a judgmental tone because you're 18 and should have your entire life planned out by now. Of course, if you do say your major they'll definitely have a friend who is in the same major and will recommend that you take certain classes that may or may not still exist. Choose wisely.
9. How's your roommate?
You could always lie and say they're fine if you don't want to talk about them. Or if you're me and you have a lot of fun stories you tell those instead.
10. Do you like it?
Unless you're actually close to this person and want their help and insight: always answer yes. No need to drag on this conversation or have these people worry about you any further than the holidays. Thanks for making it to the end of this article and I hope you all had a happy invasive interview- I mean thanksgiving :)
