The Top 10 Most Overplayed Songs Of 2015

There's always those songs that the radio won't stop playing. Here's my pick for the top 10 in 2015.

The year 2015 was definitely an interesting year in music: with new artists such as Bryson Tiller and Halsey, and a great year for artists such as Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Future. Although there were catchy songs, some of them were so abused by the radio that the simple thought of a single lyric from the song is cringeworthy. Here are the top 10 most overplayed songs of 2015.

10. "Hello" by Adele

9. "Cheerleader" by OMI

The song was already annoying enough to begin with. Like, who even calls their significant other a "cheerleader?" Anyway, the song is about a guy who's contemplating whether or not to cheat on this "cheerleader" (which is a pretty messed up message for the kids, but hey, it's catchy). And then the radio played it over and over which made things even worse.

8. "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran

When your music don't work like it used to before. This song definitely got me thinking out loud, "why in the world is this song on again?" Sorry Ed, you have a nice voice, but this song really got me to switch stations as soon as this came on.

7. "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift

I tried to keep this list one song per artist. Otherwise this list would be 10 tracks from "1989." The "Shake it Off" hype died down by early 2015 and "Wildest Dreams" and "Bad Blood" did not really get big until later 2015. This song, "Blank Space" was the Taylor Swift song of 2015. And just like every Taylor Swift song, expect two things: to be overplayed and to be about an ex-lover. This song accomplished both of those attributes tenfold.

6. "The Hills" by The Weeknd

Like I said for the previous song, I tried to keep this list one song per artist. Sure "Earned It" and "Can't Feel My Face" were both indeed overplayed, but this is the one that did it for me. The moment I would hear the very first note of this song I would immediately feel the blood boiling in my veins and my hand instantly jumping to change the station. Congratulations radio, you ruined an amazing artist for me.

5. "Hotline Bling" by Drake

If this was a list for worst music videos of 2015 then this would be at the No. 1 spot. But besides the fact that Drake cannot dance, and the video did not match the music, this song became overplayed really quickly. With an overload of memes, references, parodies, quotes from the song, etc., it was all over social media and the radio was playing it every possible second they could get. I really hope Drake canceled his phone service by now.

4. "Trap Queen" by Fetty Wap

I almost did not want to include this song because I used to get so hyped whenever this used to come on. But I feel like the fact that I used to enjoy this song and now hate it is a better reason for me to include it on the list. After a while, I realized this song felt like it would never end as the song just consists of him repeating the same lyrics over and over again. In fact, he does this with every single song on his album. I can't be the only one who thinks that all of Fetty Wap's songs sound exactly the same.

3. "Watch Me" by Silento

I think it's funny when Silento goes, "You already know who it is!" when no one had a clue who this Silento character was, and this would probably be his only big song, ever. This is the "Gangnam Style" of 2015. Except "Gangnam Style" was somewhat catchy. This mess consists of a squeaky voiced artist repeating 10 different dance moves and repeating the same lyrics (he manages to say "watch me" 84 times in three minutes). The only reason it got big was because they play it at every event now because they think it's "cute" when everyone is doing the whip and nae nae. For a guy named Silento, he definitely wasn't silent.

2. "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson

You know this song word-for-word by now. This song would brighten my morning and help me look forward to a great day. I used to feel nothing but happiness while listening to this song. Now I feel everything but happiness. I think I heard this song on four stations at once before. Don't play this song near me unless you're ready to suffer the consequences.

1. "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa

The death of Paul Walker touched the hearts of many and no one can say the ending of "Furious 7" was not emotional. This song was dedicated to his death, and that is something I can respect. What I can't respect is how often the radio played this song. It was overplayed. Like really freaking unbelievably overplayed. Not only was this song abused on the radio, but literally every source of auditory media and it got annoying very quickly. And Wiz Khalifa? Really? Of all people to use to dedicate a song to someone's death you use Wiz Khalifa? This song for sure deserves the No 1. spot.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
