It's been a little over a year since one Direction has gone on hiatus, and there are no signs of them getting back together anytime soon. But despite their recent breakup, it's still fun to go back and listen to some of their older work. As I did this the other day, I realized one of the band members didn't get enough recognition and decided to give him the spotlight for this article. Louis Tomlinson has had a busy life these past few years. From being in a boyband to becoming a father, this guy is always on the go. So let's go back and see some of his best from back in his "glory days" of One Direction.
10. Moments
For their debut album, Louis didn't receive many solos. But despite his lack of vocal opportunities, he smashed it with this song. Moments is a ballad that truly exemplified Louis and his softer voice.
9. Right Now
It was rare for a one Direction song to start with Louis, but this song proved otherwise. Midnight Memories is One Direction's third album and is significant to the dynamic of the group because each member was given more equal singing opportunities.
8. Summer Love
Louis was still young in this song, and you can easily tell when his part comes up. His voice is interesting though because it's so raw compared to the rest of the band.
7. Fireproof
Louis Tomlinson's voice is incredible in this song because you can tell how much it has matured throughout the years. It's easy to see that he has become more confident as a singer because he's showing that he's more willing to take on these challenging solos.
6. Alive
I enjoy him in this song because the lyrics are so powerful in his part. He sings, "We gotta live before we get older, do what we like we've got nothing to lose. Shake off the weight of the world from shoulders, we've got nothing to prove". This not only describes Louis' personality perfectly, but also allows him to test his vocal range as well.
5. I Want To Write You A Song
We get blessed with a falsetto from him in this tune.
4. 18
This may be some of the best work Louis has done when it comes to solos. Although he didn't have to hit a crazy note or go out of range, his soft and delicate voice was captured wonderfully in this song.
3. Over Again
One of the best parts of Louis singing is being able to hear his accent as he is singing. In this song, he somewhat "talks" while he's singing, so it's always nice to see some of his British roots come out in his performances.
2. Love You Goodbye
That. High. Note. He. Hits. Absolutely breathtaking. I will never skip over this song on shuffle because not only did Louis do a phenomenal job on it, but he also wrote most of the lyrics from personal experiences.
1. No Control
The tune that was made perfectly for him. Not only is he lead vocals in the chorus, but he even gets a shot at a solo (which he executes flawlessly).
