Halloween is right around the corner and if you're like me, horror films are a must! Here are my top 10 for this Halloween season that can be found on Netflix:
1. Creep
This is a low-budget film with a two-person cast and they really deliver in giving you the creeps with every scene.
2.Holidays
This one is anthology of the holidays with a horrific twist! Some are funny, others just weird but overall a fun watch!
3. The Host
This a Korean horror film, so unless you understand Korean subtitles are needed. This film is funny, scary, and oddly heartbreaking in its delivery. It's widely regard by the film community as an amazing film due to how they used the monster in this film.
4. Hush
Another low-budget film with a small cast but the performances by both actors is a delight. This horror film keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very last second!
5.Troll Hunter
This a Norwegian mockumentary film (will need subtitles) about university students who are investigating the illegal poaching of bears and they find themselves encountered with a real troll hunter! The movie sounds weird and it is, but it also is very well acted, the digital effects are interesting, and there are a few very funny moments as well as scary ones.
6. Housebound
This one seems like the run of the mill haunted house story but it is so much more! This is another that is very comical in its delivery but the mystery surrounding the film can keep you on the edge of your seat!
7. The Awakening
This is a ghost and mystery film. Throughout the film, you aren't sure if there really are ghosts or is the main character just losing herself. It's a beautiful film speckled with mystery and keeps you engaged until the end.
8. VHS
This is a film within films, it's anthology but there is a horror film going on outside of these shorter films. If you can get past the first short film then you can handle the whole film. This is very scary in parts, so be ready to cover your eyes here or there.
9. They Look Like People
This one is more of a thriller/mystery but some of the images used are pretty terrifying. It's a different concept of horror and can make you very confused until you reach the end of the film.
10. The Hallow
If you know anything about Celtic folklore such as fairies then this will disappoint you but if you separate yourself from that this film is very interesting in its visuals as well as the genuine scares that can happen throughout the film. A great watch!
