The Christmas season is upon us, and I could not be more excited. It's a time of giving, joy, and love that I look forward to every year. Even though there are some things about Christmas that I do not like it's best to just ignore those things and enjoy the season anyways. One of the ways to do that is to snuggle up on the couch with someone (for me my little wiener dog Cocoa #singlelife) and watch Christmas movies. Maybe you're unsure about which movies to watch. Here is my personal top ten Christmas movies that you should definitely start with for the best Christmas movie watching experience.
10. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Animated)
How the Grinch stole Christmas is a classic Christmas movie with a great message about loving your fellow man (or Who) around you (down in whoville). If you find yourself being a grumpy Grinch this year, watch this movie with someone you love and get in the spirit of the season.
9. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Did you even have Christmas if you didn't see this movie. Be sure this year to pull out your moose mugs and eggnog to watch this one, and be ready to laugh and laugh and laugh. (If you have children you don't want exposed to some language catch it on one of the channels that cut that out, but still great movie)
8. Dear Santa
Is any Christmas movie list complete without a cheesy Lifetime movie. I found this sweet little gem channel surfing and bored out of my mind over a Christmas break a few years ago and it has become a staple of the Rose family Christmas season. It's part comedy, part romance, and all Christmas fun.
7. Boyfriend for Christmas
You can't have a Lifetime movie on the list and not include a movie from the king of cheesy romance movies, Hallmark. This movie is a little stereotypical but it is the best out of all the cheesy stereotypical Hallmark movies. It is a great story about the Christmas spirit, love, and how relationships consist of a little bit more than Santa's matchmaking.
6. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
If you don't know the song and you haven't seen the movie, it is time for you to come out from under your rock and enjoy the real world.
5. It's a Wonderful Life
Of all the old Christmas movies this one touches your heart and is a great classic. If you haven't seen it, ring a bell and get your movie watching wings.
4. Polar Express
All aboard for a ride down memory lane and to feelings of childhood joy and wonder.
3. A Charlie Brown Christmas
Who doesn't like Charlie Brown? Maybe you don't because you have never seen it. No Christmas is complete without it. (Linus and his monologue gets me every time)
2. Elf
I am not the biggest fan of Will Ferrell Movies, but this one I watch at least twice. It is silly and fun and is one of the most quotable movies ever. Don't be a cotton headed ninny muggins this year. Watch Elf.
Honorable Mentions
If you can't find the ones I have listed on TV then you can't go wrong with these movies:
Home Alone
Scrooge
Miracle on 34th Street
Jingle All the Way
The Santa Clause
1. Santa Claus is Comin' to Town
This is my all time favorite Christmas movie. It is a classic that is sure to melt your cold heart, have you putting one foot in front of the other, and give you the incentive to write a letter to Santa no matter your age. The songs and the whole spirit of the move is unparalleled to any other Christmas movie I have seen. For the love of all that is Christmas, watch this movie.
