2016 is gearing up to be one hell of a year for movie watching. With so many amazing films coming out this year, I've narrowed it down to 10 that you must see. There was no way of rating these movies, seeing as they haven't come out yet, so I'm going with release dates.
1. "Deadpool"
Synopsis:
Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces operative who now works as a mercenary. His world comes crashing down when the evil Ajax (Ed Skrein) tortures, disfigures and transforms him into Deadpool. The rogue experiment leaves Deadpool with accelerated healing powers and a twisted sense of humor. With help from mutant allies, Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) and Colossus (Stefan Kapicic), Deadpool uses his new skills to hunt down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
If you haven't seen "Deadpool" yet, then what are you waiting for? This movie was everything Marvel ever dreamed of. But trust me, it is rated R for many reasons.
2. "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice"
Release Date: March 25
Synopsis:
Mankind faces a new threat as Batman (Ben Affleck) embarks on a personal vendetta against Superman (Henry Cavill).
This will be the ultimate showdown of the DC universe. Are you Team Batman or Team Superman?
3. "Captain America: Civil War"
Release Date: May 6
Synopsis:
A feud between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) leaves the Avengers in turmoil.
This will be the ultimate showdown of the Marvel Universe. There seems to be a lot of superhero showdowns this year. Are you Team Captain America or Team Iron Man?
4. "Alice Through the Looking Glass"
Release Date: May 27
Synopsis:
Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp).
I don't know if you should watch this movie because it is the sequel to the great remakes of "Alice in Wonderland," or because Alan Rickman's last performance is as Absolem the Caterpillar? Either way, it is a must see.
5. "X-Men: Apopcalypse"
Release Date: May 27
Synopsis:
Worshipped as a god since the dawn of civilization, the immortal Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) becomes the first and most powerful mutant. Awakening after thousands of years, he recruits the disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and other mutants to create a new world order. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Professor X (James McAvoy) and Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) lead a team of young X-Men to stop their seemingly invincible nemesis from destroying mankind.
After X-Men's Days of Future Past basically restarted everything in the X-Men universe they were free to do whatever they wanted. They really came through with this fresh, new plot.
6. "Ghostbusters"
Release Date: July 15
Synopsis:
With paranormal activity on the rise, a Columbia University academic, her ghost-chasing friend, the friend's business partner, and an MTA employee join forces to bust ghosts and save New York.
Everyone has heard the phrase "Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!" Now they're revamping the movie with an all female cast.
7. "Suicide Squad"
Release Date: August 5
Synopsis:
Super-villains accept a secret government mission that will likely result in their deaths.
This year they're a lot of superhero movies, but now we get a movie from the super-villain perspective.
8. "Doctor Strange"
Release Date: November 4
Synopsis:
Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) discovers the world of magic after surviving a car accident.
I don't know if people will be watching this because it looks like another great Marvel movie or because it's starring Benedict Cumberbatch...or both.
9. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"
Release Date: November 18
Synopsis:
Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) must track down an array of magical creatures in 1926 New York.
After many years, we finally get another movie for the Harry Potter fandom to obsess over. J.K. Rowling is giving us another gift for us to cherish.
10. "Moana"
Synopsis:
A young woman uses her navigational talents to set sail for a fabled island. Joining her on the adventure is her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui.
This movie will be really special because it is the first Walt Disney movie starring a Polynesian girl. It's great to get some more diversity in Disney.
