John Mayer is one of my favorite artists. His albums are all so good and I catch myself falling in love with the lyrics in each of his songs. I listen to him all the time, sometimes so much that I'm sure my roommates get tired of hearing me gush about how amazing he is (Well John, Matty Healy, and Ed Sheeran of course).

Because I listen to him so frequently, I've decided to list the John Mayer songs that are incredibly underrated and my favorite part of the song in no specific order. (SPOILER: Slow Dancing In A Burning Room Is Not One :-) )

1. The Heart of Life

// Pain throws your heart to the ground,

Love turns the whole thing around

No, it won't all go the way it should

But I know the heart of life is good //

Such a wholesome message and such a good little reminder about how good life is.

2. In Repair

// I'm in repair

I'm not together, but I'm getting there //

In other words, it's okay not to be okay.

3. I'm Gonna Find Another You

// But when my loneliness is through

I'm gonna find another you //

In basic terms, you won't be too hard to replace. #boybye

4. Stop This Train

// So scared of getting older

I'm only good at being young

So I play the numbers game

To find a way to say that life has just begun //

I think everyone can relate to this. Being scared of growing up is something that I think everyone deals with at one point in their life.

5. Vultures

// Some of us, we're hardly ever here

The rest of us, we're born to disappear

How do i stop myself from being just a number?

How will I hold my head

To keep from going under? //

6. In Your Atmosphere- Live at the Nokia Theatre

// I'm gonna steer clear

I'd burn up in your atmosphere

I'm gonna steer clear

'Cause I'd die if I saw you

I'd die if I didn't see you there //

7. Edge of Desire

// I want you so bad I'll go back on the things I believe

There I just said it, I'm scared you'll forget about me //

Loving someone so much or even just being so infatuated with someone that you'll lose yourself to gain them.

8. A Face To Call Home

// You know my paper heart

The one I fill with pencil marks

I think I might have gone and inked you in //

His reference to the pencil marks that you can erase and then the ink that you can't erase, as if you'll always be on his heart. :'-)

9. Paper Doll

// You're like twenty-two girls in one

And none of them know what they're runnin' from

Was it just too far to fall?

For a little paper doll //

Fun Fact: This song may or may not have been written about Taylor Swift.

10. Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey

// Walking home with no one left

Speak softly underneath my breath

Hey world, you ain't seen nothing yet

Great, now it's raining //

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
