While I was growing up whenever everyone loved something I had to hate it. Hannah Montana was the only stage I allowed myself to go through with everyone else. When the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber, you name it, were the big thing I would avoid the music like the plague because I could not be "one of those girls" for some reason. Nicholas Sparks movies were quite the same. I remember when "The Last Song" came out. I was in 7th grade, and all my friends were going to watch it, except for me. I acted the exact same way when "The Notebook" came out. But one day about two years after "The Last Song" came out, my mom and I decided to watch it. I remember loving it from the very first minute. I also remember when the tears started flowing out. Since then I have seen every single movie Nicholas Sparks has out except "The Choice." Here is a list in order from my favorite to least favorite along with my favorite quote. Even though some movies have to go on the bottom of the list they are all amazing.
1. "The Last Song"
This has actually been my favorite movie in general since I watched it the very first time. I also, honestly cannot tell you how many times I have watched it. This movie plays on so many emotions. I laugh harder than anything. It makes me so happy that I cannot stop smiling, but it also has its places where I cry harder than anything.
“Mom says it's because she has PMS.
Do you even know what that means?
"I'm not a little kid anymore. It means pissed-at- men syndrome”
2. "The Notebook"
Everything about this movie was beautifully created. You are really taken through two peoples' lives rather than just one brief time in life.
“They didn’t agree on much. In fact, they didn’t agree on anything. They fought all the time and challenged each other ever day. But despite their differences, they had one important thing in common. They were crazy about each other.
3. "The Best of Me"
I cried the absolute longest in this movie. It touches home for a lot of teens and young adults. Something that I like about this movie it differs from a typical Nicholas Sparks movie. In the very end I was not crying out of sadness, but happiness. It was bittersweet and beautiful.
“Even if I thought he was perfect for her." She turned to face him. "What were we thinking?"
"We weren't," he said. "We were in love.”
4. Safe Haven
This movie seemed pretty normal. I remember while i was watching the movie forgetting that it was a Nicholas Sparks movie. By forgetting it was a Nicholas Sparks movie I thought I had it figured out. I had the happy ending playing in my head, but was mistaken of course.
“I truly believe that while love can hurt, love can also heal…”
5. "A Walk to Remember"
I remember being completely blindsided during this movie. I knew that something bad had to happen because it is a Nicholas Sparks movie, but I had absolutely no idea what it would be until it happened.
“You have to promise you won't fall in love with me.”
6. The Longest Ride
This movie was really good. I love how the ending is completely unexpected. It differs the most from Nicholas Sparks classic movies. It's happy and it leaves you smiling for once.
“We shared the longest ride together, this thing called life."
7. "Dear John"
I loved the mystery in this movie. The factor of the unknown made it really intriguing to me.
“When you're struggling with something, look at all the people around you and realize that every single person you see is struggling with something, and to them, it's just as hard as what you're going through.”
8. "Nights in Rodanthe"
This movie was so sweet. I loved how the cast was older. It showed another side to love that usually is not played on in movies.
“Then you came along and helped me believe in myself again.”
9. "Message in a Bottle"
This movie was really sweet as well. It was on the far-fetched side of what could actually happen in real life, but it was still a really good watch.
“If you like her, if she makes you happy, and if you feel like you know her---then don't let her go.”
10. "The Lucky One"
Even though I have this at the very bottom of my list it is still a spectacular movie. This movie brings the butterflies to your stomach. It gives you hope and has you smiling.
“In the blink of an eye, something happens by chance - when you least expect it - sets you on a course that you never planned, into a future you never imagined.”
