Short girls; we face so many struggles in life. We can't reach this, these clothes don't fit, or our feet can't touch the ground when we're sitting. We usually have to have someone taller than us get what we need, grab a step stool, or just climb the counters. Sometimes, people see us as being cute because we are tiny, but no. They are wrong, because we may be tiny, but we are fierce little fighters! Can you relate to any of these life problems?

1. We have to crawl on the counters to reach the top shelf.

You know that yummy bag of cookies? Well look up. They're on the top shelf, and you know what that means: YOU GOTTA CLIMB FOR THEM. Honestly, it feels like I'm climbing Everest for the darn bag.

2. When we're sitting in a chair and our feet can't touch the ground.

When you're in class or at your home desk, your feet just barely touch the ground. Even if the chair is on the lowest height setting, they still don't touch.

3. Pants are always too long.

You find that perfect pair of skinny jeans and try them on in the dressing room and WAM BAM! They are so long they cover your feet.

4. Mini dresses become normal dresses.

There was this really cute summer dress that I saw in the store once, and when I tried it on, it looked like it was almost a maxi dress on me.

5. When we're shopping at the store and that one can is on the top shelf.

You're either climbing the shelves or standing on the cart in order to get that can of tomato soup.

6. Sometimes we have to shop in the petite section.

This isn't a bad thing, but it is kind of annoying because we will always want that one dress in the shop window. But when you try it on, it's either too long or the short sleeves become long sleeves.

7. We can't ride those awesome roller coasters.

As much as we love roller coasters, there are only a small few that we can actually ride. Oh well, safety first, I guess.

8. We have to stand on our tip-toes to kiss our SO.

I mean, this can be a problem. But sometimes it's cute.

9. Some animals just look enormous to us.

Like, did you see that Great Dane? He's bigger than me.

10. We have to be close to the steering wheel.

We are so short, we have to be as close as possible to the steering wheel. I know this for a fact.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
