After final exams and a long day on the road back home, all you want to do is cuddle up underneath a warm blanket with some good snacks and hot cocoa and watch a good holiday-themed movie. With so many options to choose from, it can be daunting. Here is a list of the best movies of all time, both classic and new, to get into the holiday spirit.
1. A Christmas Carol
An old bitter man is given a chance for redemption when he is haunted by three ghosts on Christmas Eve.
2. Bad Santa
A miserable conman and his partner pose as Santa and his little helper to rob department stores on Christmas Eve. But they run into problems when the conman befriends a troubled kid, and the security boss discovers the plot.
3. Charlie Brown Christmas![](data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20395%20294'%3E%3C/svg%3E)
Repelled by the commercialism he sees around him, Charlie Brown tries to find the true meaning of Christmas.
4. Elf
Nothing is more hysterical than WIll Ferrell in an elf costume. There's not a moment during this movie I don't find myself laughing. Elf is the perfect feel-good family Christmas movie with an all star cast of WIll Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel, and James Caan.
5. Home Alone
Kevin McAllister is not your average 8 year old, which is why this is one of my favorite movies. What other 8 year old casually rigs their whole house to get rid of invaders? I wish I could do that. This movie is full of wit and is the perfect movie to watch before your family goes on vacation.
6. Home Alone 2
One year after Kevin was left home alone and had to defeat a pair of burglars, he accidentally finds himself in the Big Apple and the same criminals are not far behind.
7. Love Actually![](data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20392%20292'%3E%3C/svg%3E)
Love Actually follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England.
8. The Polar Express
A young boy embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express. During his adventure he learns about friendship, bravery, and the spirit of Christmas.
9. The Holiday
Featuring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, two women troubled with guy-problems switch homes in each other's countries, where they each meet a local guy and fall in love.
10. When Harry Met Sally
Harry and Sally have known each other for years, and are very good friends, but they fear sex would ruin the friendship.
