So this is for all of you who love hiking or want to get started. I have here a self- designed list of the top 10 hikes that New England offers and none of them are biased, I just have done some personal and online research to reach these conclusions.
Hopefully, all of you can enjoy at least a few of these mountains this summer:
1.) Camel's Hump
First on the list is Camel's Hump!
Camel's Hump is located in Duxbury and Huntington Vermont and reaches 4,081 feet in height. Camel's Hump is known to be a relatively hard mountain to climb. However, it is a very popular climb in Vermont, mostly due to it's location near the resort town of Stowe, Vermont. Also, the unique shape of the peak that provides the name of the mountain, results in the popularity of Camel's Hump.
Another Vermont peak that makes the list is
2.) Dorset Mountain
This mountain is not as famous or as large as Camel's Hump, but it offers a set of stunning views on "Dorset Peak".
This mountain is located in Danby, Vermont with a total of 3,760 feet.
3.) Mt. Chocorua
Now in New Hampshire, the heart of the White Mountains and the Presidential range sits Mt. Chocorua
Mt. Chocorua sits at just about 3,748 feet but what it lacks in feet makes up for in views.
4.) Mt. Osceola
Mt. Osceola is another mountain in New Hampshire that reaches about 4,314 feet and is located in the White Mountain National Forest.
Mt. Osceola may not be the most popular mountain in New Hampshire, but it does not disappoint.
5.) Mount Katahdin
Now in Maine, Mount Katahdin is the highest peak in the state standing at 5,267 feet in the Appalachian Mountain Range.
Mount Katahdin is the vocal point for Baxter State Park.
6.) Saddleback Mountain
Saddleback Mountain is another mountain in Maine located in Franklin County, near the town of Rangeley.
Fun Fact: Saddleback Mountain is also a ski area!
7.) Ragged Mountain
Now in New England the bigger mountains are in the Northern states, but Connecticut can still offer some mountain thrills, especially for rock climbers on Ragged Mountain's traprock mountain ridge that stands at 762 feet and is a popular place for rock climbers.
Ragged Mountain is also a ski resort!
We are going to skip one state in New England and that is Rhode Island because they have hills rather then mountains.
8.) Mount Greylock
However in Massachussetts there is Mount Greylock. Mount Greylock is 3,491 feet and is the highest natural point in the state.
Mount Greylock is located in the beautiful Berkshire region.
9.) Blue Hills
This selection is rather a nature walk then a mountain, but it does incline and reach a view that overlooks Boston.
This would be a great start for beginner hikers!
10.) Mt. Washington
This is the mother of all mountains in New England and deserves to be on every top 10 hikes of New England list. This monster stands at 6,289 feet and is the highest peak in the Northeastern part of the United States. Located in Sargent's Purchase, New Hampshire.
On top their is an observatory!
Thank you for indulging in my favorite hikes and I hope that all of you will love these trails this summer and years to come.
