10 Of My Favorite Latin Singers

We all have artists that we can identify with through their music and the lyrics. It's the rhythm of their music that makes us dance and the lyrics that makes us sing to the top of our lungs. Latin music just happens to be my favorite type of music and I adore Spanish music since I'm a Latino. Without a doubt, these are my top 10 favorite Latin musicians:

1. Alejandro Sanz

My fan favorite. I've been listening and singing his songs ever since I was a kid. My mother always tells me that I belted out his songs in the car on the way back home.

Favorite Song: "Corazon Partio."

2. Chayanne

I got into his music because he's my mother's favorite artist. I saw him at a concert once and really became a fan of his music after that. Also, one of the best examples to represent his island, Puerto Rico, with his romantic music.

Favorite Song: "Y Tú Te Vas."

3. Enrique Iglesias

The Spaniard who makes the women melt, and son of Julio Iglesias. I had the opportunity to go to three of his concerts and enjoyed all of them. He's simply a great showman and his music makes you jump up and down.

Favorite Song: "Be With You."

4. Ricky Martin

Puerto Rico's pride and joy of an artist, the musician who broke the charts for Latin music and dominated the Billboards with his hits. Ricky is an idol to many artists and is considered on the list of elite musicians amongst the likes of Elton John and Madonna.

Favorite Song: "Bella (She's All I Ever Had)."

5. Pablo Alborán

I found his music while he uploaded only on YouTube and got known there. I felt a connection with his lyrics and his smooth guitar playing in his debut album titled Pablo Alborán.

Favorite Song: "Quimera" ft. Ricky Martin.

6. Tommy Torres

I simply love this guy. He graduated from my high school and represents it pretty well. He's a singer-songwriter for the likes of Ednita Nazario and Alejandro Sanz, and a proud gem from Puerto Rico.

Favorite Song: "Dame Esta Noche."

7. Alejandro Fernández

Another of my mother's favorite singers, son of Vicente Fernández, and a diverse musician who often switches from rancheras to pop music or romantic ballads.

Favorite Song: "Me Hace Tanto Bien."

8. Ricardo Arjona

I've been listening to Arjona since I was kid in my mother's car. He's in the league of one of the best Latin songwriters and has great music. I bought one of his albums and didn't skip any of the tracks, that says a lot.

Favorite Song: "Señora de las Cuatro Décadas."

9. Juanes

From "A Dios Le Pido to La Camisa Negra," Juanes has been a singer in which I didn't love until "Un Día Normal." Honestly, I can listen to that track repeatedly throughout the day, that's how much I love the song.

Favorite Song: "Un Día Normal."

10. David Bisbal

He's a famous Spaniard singer who rose to fame on the TV show "Operación triunfo;" from his collaborations with Wisin y Yandel to a track with Rihanna, he's been a musician, which I appreciate and love him for his hit song Quién Me Iba A Decir.

Favorite Song: "Quién Me Iba A Decir."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
