Growing up, my mom read to me and my sister every night before we went to bed. I loved this time because we were all snuggled together reading one of our favorite books. As we grew up, we read more complex books and from this constant reading developed my love of reading. One of my favorites, when we were smaller, to read were the Dr. Seuss books. Though those books were fun to read, they also, as I look back have some pretty great lessons everyone, I think, can benefit from.

"I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful one hundred percent!" We should all strive to stay true to our word!

"Step with great care and great tact, and remember that life's a great balancing act."

Who's worthing of your time? Learn to set priorities. It won't be easy but will pay off.

"I know up on top you are seeing great sights, but down here on the bottom, we too should have rights." Everyone deserves equal rights.

"Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!" You're capable of so much creativity, embrace if, and don't forget it.

"If things start happening, don't worry, don't stew. Just go right along and you'll start happening too." Sometimes success can happen too fast and if you feel like you're not ready, remember these words.

"I like nonsense. It wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of the telescope." I love nonsense, it's a beautiful thing. Imagination is such a powerful thing, we need to use it more. And some of the best ideas started in the imagination.

"You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in any direction you choose." You determine you're own destiny. Make it great!

"We're all a little weird and life's a little weird. And when we find someone who's weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." This can go for friends and significant others, and it's truly amazing when you find someone who loves you.

"Unless someone you like cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." You have to care. You have to take responsibility and do something about the situation.

"Today you are YOU, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than YOU!" My favorite quote. You're one of a kind, don't try to be like everyone else. You're so unique, so embrace it and be the youest YOU you can be!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
