We Heart It

So this past summer I was intern and I always, I mean always had to at least look my best and not like I wanted to participate in a Netflix marathon. Not only did I dress like I was an actual adult person, I also wore make-up so I didn’t look I was 15, even though mostly everyone I came in contact with then thought I was at least 18; which was considered a small yet still disappointing victory. Anyway, I’ve been trying different beauty products all summer and I made a list of my absolute 10 favorites, so without further ado, here’s my top 10 favorite beauty products of the summer.

1. Maybelline’s Dream Velvet Foundation

I definitely was skeptical of this product at first. I didn’t really believe the label when it said soft matte hydrating foundation. But true to its word Maybelline’s Dream Velvet definitely blended flawlessly to my skin tone (I got the shade coconut) and didn’t dry out during the day. It’s a definite steal.

2. Bath and Body Work’s Mahogany Teakwood Lotion & Shower Gel

I’m definitely obsessed with this scent. When I first tried it, I immediately thought of my dad, he always smells like mahogany and a hint of a cigar. Which is always comforting going through the day with a scent from home.

3. Maybelline’s FIT Me! Pressed Powder

"Maybe it’s Maybelline." Or it’s just me with a slight infatuation with their products but I tried their Dream Wonder pressed powder and it was great, I loved it and wanted to go with something new. This pressed powder works great for normal to dry skin! They also have a Normal to oily skin as well.

4. E.L.F. ‘s Instant Lift Brow Pencil

The best part about this product is that it’s retractable! I honestly got tired of sharpening brow pencils and I’m no pro at gels and powders.

5. NYX Dark Circle Concealer Corrector

This product is true to its name and I love how it hides that I just watched a whole season of Supernatural in one night look.

6. Carol’s Daughter Mirabelle Plum Shampoo and Conditioner

My absolute holy grail of the summer has been this product. My hair has never been softer. I could give you a million reasons why I love this product but I can’t even make words for it. It’s simply amazing and you’d have to see the results for yourself.

7. Neutrogena Naturals Face cleansers

I bought this product before the spring semester ended and it’s been really nice on my skin. The whole of products is very well, natural and doesn’t strip the natural oils from my skin and doesn’t leave it feeling dry, but it does feel refreshed and soft.

8. Biore’s Nose Strips

There are days when literally my pores and black-heads are so big I think they’re going to swallow me whole so I use the Biore Nose strips to tone those pesky pores down. It’s always nice to relax and read a book with a nose strip on.

Tip: Don’t forget to remove your nose strip when you’re leaving somewhere. I forgot one time and I was totally embarrassed when everyone at the grocery store was looking at me and when I returned I looked in the mirror and I crawled in my bed and questioned all my life decisions.

9. Drybar Detox Dry Conditioner

Dry shampoo changed the hair care game forever and it now has an après-poo counterpart: dry conditioner. Similar to the OG, blowout-saving stuff, it gives unwashed hair love by softening and nourishing (yes, hydrating those ends) and providing a lovely scent. The big difference? You don't apply it to your roots.

10. Garnier Micellar Water

Don’t you hate when you use make-up wipes and it leaves your face sticky? Yeah me too, so I picked up some micellar water and bam! My make-up was removed in a swipe and my skin didn’t feel sticky gross, but very clean.

So there you have it, my top 10 favorite beauty products. What are some of your favorite beauty products?

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
