It finally does not feel like a stale armpit in Cola, which thankfully means we won’t have to deal with looking like we took a shower as we sweat out what feels like gallons of water, walking to class each day. The leaves are changing, the semester is progressing rapidly and football season is in full swing. But despite the hustle and bustle of being mid-semester, one thing we can’t deny is our love for fall, and doing cute fall-like activities with our friends and significant others. Here are some of the best fall activities to do near Columbia over the next month.

1. South Carolina State Fair

The fair is the perfect place to get your fill of funnel cake and all things fried. From different rides, to games and even concerts, the fair is the perfect destination to have fun, and enjoy the cool weather of the fall.

The fair runs at the State Fair grounds from October 12th-23rd. Prices vary based on each event.

2. Pumpkin Patches

We all know you're dying for that cute fall pumpkin patch picture. Well you are in luck. Clinton Sease Farm has a pumpkin patch with $1 admission running September 20 to November 17 with the hours of Friday 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

3. Apple Picking

Picking apples, eating homemade pie and taking cute pictures beats any lazy Sunday afternoon. Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill is a great destination not too far outside of Columbia to have a fun, Fall afternoon.

4. Boo At the Zoo


Wanting to feel good and see cute animals? Go the Riverbanks Zoo from October 21 to 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. to experience Boo at the Zoo. Vesting the zoo at night is a very unique experience that everyone should get to witness.

5. Dracula- Ballet With A Bite

Feeling edgy, and want a sophisticated night out? The Koger Center for the Arts is featuring this electric and enchanting ballet with opportunities to see this show:

6. Disturbia Down South

For just $12, Haunted Farms give you a spooky evening getting scared by different attractions. Disturbia Down South takes place September 30, 2016 to October 29, 2016 at 2601 Highway 6, Gaston, SC.

7. Corn Maze

Feeling up to a challenge? Try going through Clinton Sease Farm's Corn Maze for a adventurous Fall afternoon activity. It is open September 20 to November 17 running from Friday 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

8. Terror Falls Haunted Farm

Another spooky nighttime adventure is the Terror Falls Haunted Farm. This haunted experience can be found at 370 Mack Street, Gaston SC, with admission running at $15 a night.

9. Halloween Crafting Night

Looking for a chill night of getting all the girls together? Try having a Halloween pumpkin decorating night to create fall and Halloween décor for your apartments.

10. Halloween Movie Night

Whether you're into the favorite classic movies like "Halloweetown," or scary movies like "The Purge," there are some fantastic movies on Netflix, Disney and ABC to get you into the Halloween Spirit.
