Are you ready to have the game night your friends and you have been dying to have, but need to freshen up because Uno is just too played out? I have the answer for you with ten hysterical games that everyone will enjoy. Most of these games range from $15 to $45 and take between 10 minutes to an hour.
1. Cards Against Humanity
Now if you haven't at least heard of this game, you've probably been living under a rock. This is undoubtedly the most popular card game that's been spiraling recently.
Of course, this will be up first because I use this as a reference point for a lot of the games I mention next. But before sending off to one of those, you have to jump right in with a game of good old Cards Against Humanity.
2. Red Flags
This game is all about creating the perfect date for your friends. Like Cards Against Humanity, there is one judge and everyone puts down two cards that they deem are the best out of their hand for your perfect date.
There's a catch though. The person on their left adds a red card that holds a bad trait in order to ruin that date, and as the judge, it is your job to pick between that. The person who sets up the most dates wins.
3. Super Fight
Red Flags and this game are probably the closest to the style of Cards Against Humanity.
In Super Fight, it is your job to create the ultimate super hero, but they all have one downfall or flaw, and as a group you decide who would win in a fight against you all.
This is a game where the expansion packs can really add to the fun as they create obstacles or locations that can add advantages or disadvantages to the game.
4. One Night Ultimate Werewolf
If you like playing mafia, then this is the game for you. The great part about this game is that every role you play is given instructions while you play on the app you download on your phone.
This game is all about the deception. If you're a townsfolk, you want to figure out who the werewolves are, and if you're a werewolf you want to fool the others into thinking you're a townsfolk.
It's great to have best friends turn against each other in a game like this. Lying is key, but it always ends in great laughs once you find out who everyone was.
5. Coup
It's every man for himself in this game. Similar to One Night Ultimate Werewolf, you are to lie about who you are so you can get enough money to coup your teammates, or to play a role that helps you.
However, if you get caught, you could end up losing your own life. It's another trickster game, and doesn't end until there is only one left standing.
6. Anomia
As one of my personal favorites, this game is for the quick witted people, and it can go by really fast. It's all about who can give the right answer first. It's very similar to trivia.
The point of the game is when the shape of your card matches with someone else, you have to give an answer to the word on top of the card before they say yours.
An example is if my friend and I both have diamonds on our top card, mine saying fruit while his says vegetable, I have to say carrot before he can say apple.
7. Exploding Kittens
Pretty much, the whole point of the game is to avoid drawing an exploding kitten card, or else you lose. All the other cards in your hand are there to help you, like the "diffuser" card or the "see the future" to help you escape the fatal death.
This game, though the cards themselves are very interesting, is one of the simpler games, and it can lightly be related to Old Maid.
8. Joking Hazard
In this game, there is one judge who draws a random card, and then puts down one of their own to continue the comic. It is then everyone else's job to pick a proper ending buy putting a card down of their own, and the judge chooses the best one.
Besides Cards Against Humanity, this is probably the most offensive and sexualized game on the list as it goes anywhere from mass murder to ball gagging.
This game can get real intense real fast, but if your friends and you have a open sense of humor, then this is a great choice.
9. Utter Nonsense
Not good at accents? That's the point! You get to say nonsensical sentences with an accent that can be anywhere from Russian to grandpa to chicken, and even to having birth.
Similar to Cards Against Humanity and Joking Hazard, one person chooses the best representation and has to guess what the accent was.
10. Dominion
Now, this one is less of a card game and more of a deck building game. It's bit longer than most of the other ones because it lasts about an hour.
If you like Catan, you'll love this game. It includes buying and selling materials, owning lands, coins, and workers, all to add up point value to see who collected the most. Personally, I find Dominion's 2nd edition to be my favorite.
If you've played one or all of these, consider yourself a party gamer because we know whose house we're going to for the next game night! Let me know which one of these is your favorite!
