Whether your parents are in town for graduation, you're taking a prospective Wake Forest student out to a meal, or you just want to start your day with a delicious meal, these are my top ten favorite places to get breakfast in Winston.
1. Mary's Gourmet Diner
Mary's is always worth the wait, and believe me, you'll usually find a line wrapped around the corner of this downtown breakfast spot.
2. Midtown Cafe & Dessertery
My favorite spot in town for blueberry pancakes and bacon; I usually get the spinach & feta omelette, although recently my go-to has been their Irish oatmeal with fresh berries.
3. Camino Bakery
Lots of gluten-free options, and delicious caffeinated beverages. My go-to: soy earl grey latte and blueberry muffin.
4. Village Juice
My go-to: Avo-Vegan toast with two fried eggs on top, with a Feisty Rabbit juice.
5. Dioli's Italian Market
My go-to: Freshly scrambled egg with Italian pancetta and mozzeralla cheese on house focaccia.
6. Bagel Station
My go-to: Blueberry bagel, twice toasted with honey butter.
7. Whole Foods
They have a very under-rated hot-bar in their prepared foods area. My go-to's are their brioche french toast with strawberry compote, spinach quiche, and turkey bacon.
8. The Graylyn
If you're not ballin on a budget, or perhaps your parents are in town looking for a more aesthetic breakfast experience, the Graylyn is the place to go. They have a beautiful brunch prepared fresh daily with everything you could possibly imagine to eat.
9. River Birch Lodge
A must-have: their freshly squeezed orange juice.
10. Krankies
Their coffee is the best is town. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
