The past 365 days gone too quickly, and it's that time we all reflect upon the memories made and think about what we want to change for the upcoming year. That being said, New Year's Eve is the starting point where most people say the most basic phrases at the beginning of every single year about what they're going to do differently. However, we all know those people never stick to what they say. Thus, here are the top 10 most basic New Year's resolutions; I'm sure we're all guilty for not following almost all of them.
10. Better Grades
We've all had those moments of making the realization that we should probably not slack off so much anymore because our grades our seriously suffering from the amount of procrastination that has been happening. What better way to make a new pact to then the start of the new year?!
But in reality....
9. New Hairstyle
A new year means the opportunity to change up your look, here's what you expected:
But in reality...
8. Get Organized
We're all pretty much our own versions of what we consider to be a hot mess, and sadly our rooms and lives take the fall for it. A new year means changing your habit of letting things get out of control and finally keeping organized. Well, trying that is.
7. Save Money
Ballin on a budget doesn't even begin to describe every college student's financial situation. A new year means trying the best you can to work hard and save as much money as possible.
But in reality...
6. No More Junk Food
Let's face it, just eating salads doesn't last very long and most of us crack under the pressure of seeing our favorite junk food. Let's just accept this one and move on.
5. Travel
This one is a must! Try your very best to travel around the world or just to places you've never been to before. Learn the culture and enrich yourself in being in an environment where you're meeting new people and doing epic things.
4. Less Swearing
I think we all try our best to not swear so much, but sometimes you just can't help it. So let's not fight the inevitable here.
Enough said...
3. Fall in Love
If you haven't found that special person yet, don't worry -- this could finally be your year! I know it's hard seeing your friends get into relationships and trust me, it sucks being single when all you want is for someone to love you back, but you can't force this stuff to happen! You will eventually find your person and it will all be worth it in the end.
2. Less Drinking
Try your best to slow down the drinking! Your problems cannot be solved with alcohol, even though it may seem like it helps ease the pain a little. Nevertheless, monitor the drinking and you'll feel much better about yourself and the decisions you make!
1. New Year New Me
Without a doubt, the #1 most basic catchphrase for the new year. Don't lie, we've all said it once. If not, we've all made fun of someone for it. But, this is actually a good mindset to have. You are the one in control of what you want to change about yourself or your life. Take the toxicity out and replace it all with positive things. Surround yourself with people who truly love you and care about. Find a new passion. Work out. Stay active. Help others. Appreciate your friends and family. And most of all, live your life for you, not for anyone else.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
