Music has been a very important part of my life ever since I was young. I remember taking road trips with my family and my parents always packed a leafy green bag full of CDs for another source of entertainment. Some would include artists such as Bruce Springsteen, John Hiatt, Southside Johnny, John Mellencamp, Blondie, and the Go Go's (of course that was my mom's choice). My parents also had music for my twin brother and me which included children's music with stories about animals mostly (or that I can remember).
In 4th grade I joined the orchestra, choosing to play the violin all the way through my senior year of high school. It feels strange now that I don't have a class in my schedule labeled as "orchestra". I still make music apart of my life now that I'm in college. I love going to concerts and I enjoy listening to music. Here's a list of the top ten Bands I want to see live. There are ones on here that I would have like to see again live and some that I'm still dreaming of hearing and watching through an electronic device.
1. Bruce Springsteen
I've seen Bruce Springsteen before and oh my, he puts on a great act. From the awesome music to his incredible energy on stage, he has a special performance uniquely to the bands style. Also I very much love his songs. I give credit to my dad for my taste in music as I was a kid who liked to play with my parents CDs when I was younger.
2. Tonight Alive
I first caught sight of the band when I heard Jenna McDougal speak in a Youtube video (I don't remember which one) about how you create your own happiness. Later, I had heard the song "Power of One" and I was in love the band. I also love Jenna's voice. I would love to hear Jenna share positive energy to the crowd and watch the band live.
3. Sara Bareilles
I read Sara's book and fell in love with the person. I related to her on a personal level and then I connected even more through her song lyrics. Seeing her live would be like watching a flower bloom in spring. Starting small and shy, but then by the end of the show becoming a strong, and powerful leader.
4. Marina and the Diamonds
The U.K. singer has had me gripped since I heard her first album "The Family Jewels." Also, her music videos are never disappointing and frequently unique. I'm curious to see what she would put on in new shows and feel the energy of the crowd singing along with her strong vocals.
5. Twenty One Pilots
Tyler Joseph and Josh Dunn captured my mind when my friend played Migraine while on our way to see a movie. I suggested we drive around afterwards and listen to their music for a little bit. For me, driving always felt better listening to music rather than staying still. I saw Twenty One Pilots recently at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, RI. It was so emotional.
6. Lindsey Stirling
After following Lindsey since her Youtube days, it's been a long journey, from having Gavy pass away and new songs being released. Lindsey's book also related to me on a personal level, and to here her perform live would be awesome. Her dance moves while playing the violin also never cease to amaze me.
7. Real Friends
First off, this band only started 200 miles from my house and yes, the band might not dress beautifully. For me though, it's more about the lyrics and how the band interacts with the crowd. Also, to see Dan Ahron's wide grin in person would give me so much so much hope.
8. PVRIS
I love Lynn Gunn. Just needed to get that out there. The band is so humorous live, but with this sense that we all need to make a joke out of life sometimes. They are so interactive with the crowd and support what a lot of their fans do as well. I'd love to hear Lynn give a speech live with so much passion and force.
9. CHVRCHES
Lauren Mayberry has awesome dance moves. I always dream of wearing black high waisted pants and a solid blue topshop shirt with my Dr. Martin's and tights dancing on stage. It would be a dream come true and I would really love to meet more of the fans of CHVRCHES because they are all so wonderful and lovely.
10. With Confidence
The Aus. band together wouldn't be with confidence anymore. They shared their personal stories with struggling and it has been awesome to watch them grow. Also, I love the riffs this band plays, the energy they have, and how they laugh so much on stage between songs…it would be awesome to see them live.
Share your top ten bands you want to see live! I have so many more bands I would love to see live, maybe I'll make another post about it later. Let's talk music!
