To The Man Who Changed My Life

Giving someone a chance may become the best decision ever.

To The Man Who Changed My Life
Daniel Smith Jr.

Last year I found myself hanging out with people who didn't bring anything good to my life. But then you walked in and helped change that.

You showed me that I didn't deserve people who were going to try to bring me down, and people who were trying to peer pressure me into doing things that I didn't wanna do. You didn't catch my eye at first but I certainly caught yours. Even after I tried pushing you away, telling you I didn't want a relationship, you persistently said you wanted to just be my friend.

You always encouraged me and asked me questions about my life. You were very interested in me and no one has ever shown that the way you did.

I remember the day I decided to go to the gym with you without our other friends. It was just us on the treadmills and we had a three-hour conversation. It was one of the best conversations I've ever had. I told you my life story and you told me yours. Right then and there I started to have a connection with you.

The day we went ice skating with our group of friends was the day I started to actually give in and fall, not on the ice, but for you. I came to this realization after you told me you wouldn't let me fall.

You were my best friend then and you still are my best friend, but our friendship has turned into something more than that. It has turned into an amazing relationship.

Whenever I'm sad and down I can always count on you to make me laugh with your hilarious sense of humor. You always give me the best advice and you always support my dreams and life goals. I love that we have lots of similarities like our love for cheese; I never thought I would meet someone who loves cheese just as much as I do. You are caring and loving and you want the best for us.

I love when we go on random car rides and you sing to me in the car at the top of your lungs. I love the nights when we go out and play games with our friends, or the Netflix watching and pizza eating kind of nights.

Thank you for showing me love always and never giving up on me. Thank you for being my best friend and making me your soon to be wife. I love you so much!

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
