Took a Break, and now I am back

In regards to why I have been absent for a long while.

Now, there comes a time in someone’s life when they need to take a hiatus. A hiatus, is when someone needs to take a break from a project they are working on. It happens quite often. Usually because someone is burnt out or they hit a creativity block. It is often times the latter.

In my own personal life, I had to take a very long break from writing these articles. Now do not get me wrong, I love writing however, I had hit a stump. I did not know what else to write about, and I even felt as though my writing was not the best. So, I wanted to follow my own advice, and go out and live. Of course you are probably wondering, “Jelly what did you do?”

The answer is simple.

I lived.

I went and experienced new things. I became friends with new people. I talked more and smiled more. I laughed. I cried. I went out to parties with friends. I grew and matured into myself even more. I did not force myself to write for other people. As in, I did not always focus on what other people wanted to read from me.

That was the best thing to do.

Hiatuses are important . It is a time for the creator to relax and go about with their life, and explore the world around them. Sometimes creators, namely artists, go out and study new techniques so that their work is better than before. And of course it takes time. Hiatuses are beneficial. A creator may love their audience, and try to satisfy them as much as they can.

But as an audience, do you really want your favorite webcomic artist, for example, experience burnout, and possibly never come back to the work that you know and love wholeheartedly? Would you seriously want their work, rather than them having stable mental health?

Mental health is a big aspect too. There is already a lot of pressure from personal lives, and to top this off. Artists and writers are human too, you need to understand that rest is very important to them. Just as it is to you. Everyone deserves a little break. You do not own these people, so let them rest.

I do not regret my choice of taking this hiatus. I needed this break for a long time. I became more mature in my writing and within myself. I needed to go out and explore the world. And so I did.

(This is a short and simple apology for me not being around for a short while. I had to take a break and go live my life, so that there will be more things for me to write about and allow you to enjoy. )

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
