An Open Letter To My Mother

I am sorry for taking you for granted.

An Open Letter To My Mother
Michelle Beliveau

I love you.

You do so much for everyone in your life and do not ever expect anything in return. I hope you know that we all notice how much you do; we appreciate it all. We appreciate the fact that you stay up at any and all hours when we are out on the road to know we that we get to our homes okay. We appreciate all the extra hours you have worked to give us what we need. We appreciate the fact that you are our number one fan, but still can call us out on our bullsh*t. We appreciate you.

I am sorry that it does not always that seem like we notice you and notice what you do; we suck. We notice and we are bad at saying thank you. So thank you times a million. Thank you for giving up your old life, so you could have a life with us. Being a parent is a selfless act; for that we love you even more. Thank you instilling in us a sense of right and wrong. We are the people we are today because of you.

Thank you for all the hours you helped us with homework, because the teacher in you wanted us to succeed. You constantly encourage us to pursue our dreams even if we cannot always see them. We appreciate that, even if it did not always seem like it. Thank you for all the times we were sick and you took care of us. Through every moment that we hugged the porcelain throne, you pulled our hair back and made sure we were okay.

Thank you for being the shoulder to cry on when we got our hearts broken because little did we know that your heart would break too. In retrospect, things could have been a lot worse than whatever boyfriend dumped us, but at time it seemed like everything. You were always there for us, no matter how big or small the catastrophe was. Especially, the times we thought the world was coming to an end. You made sure it did not.

Thank you for dealing with our teen years and all the times we we thought we were cooler than we were. Or the times we thought we knew it all, we obviously did not. For every dramatic moment that we could have stayed calm, yet chose to run around like they sky was falling, thank you for putting us in check.

I know that things are not always easy with kids and we are nowhere near the Brady children. However, we are your children. For that, we will always be grateful for you. You have so much patience and kindness for others. You have the guts to stick up for what is right, even when it is difficult. You are so strong and wonderful. You are a wonderful mother and an amazing grandma. We hope to be half of the parent and person that you are. We love you, even when we might act like we do.

Above all, thank you for every little thing that you do, that makes you- you. You are valued more than you know. You are loved more than you know. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, mom. We love you.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

sisters

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
