It seems like every time you log on Facebook, there's a new rant clogging up your newsfeed. Whether it be Starbucks and their Christian-hating red cups or Cam Newton not properly standing during the national anthem, the internet is always pissed off. Suddenly everyone feels the need to embrace their right to freedom of speech and surely enough, it's World War 3 in the comments section.
I don't usually pay much attention to the idiocy of internet rants but after Tomi Lahren's latest rant that went viral on TheBlaze.Com, I felt personally inclined to set the record straight. The blonde bombshell reporter called attention to Queen B's halftime performance at this year's Super Bowl, saying she used the event to publicize the notion #BlackLivesMatter. While Beyonce and The Black Panthers' intentions may have been more than just to put on a jaw-dropping performance, my problem isn't with them.
Tomi Lahren took it upon herself to stand for all things colored white in what she referred to as, "The battle of the races." She hits multiple points in her broadcast that really just didn't seem to make too much sense to me. For instance, she asked, "Why be a cultural leader, when you can play the victim?" I found it to be pretty hypocritical considering that's exactly what Lahren did.
If you were ever wondering why this "black lives versus white lives" cycle seems to never end, it is because of people like Tomi Lahren who think the solution is in retaliation, not peaceful resolution. Just like she accused Beyonce, she uses her good looks, big words and even bigger Internet audience to push the notion #WhiteLivesMatterToo. It is not to say that one is right and the other is wrong because ultimately they are both wrong.
The answer to this problem isn't by saying, "Your husband was a drug dealer. For 14 years, he sold crack cocaine…… It starts at home." All that did was fire up black activists, create another endless Internet rant and set the entire human race five steps back.
If you want to be a part of a movement, be a part of #AllLivesMatter because that is the ultimate truth. Going back and forth slinging insults only further worsens the issue; in order to find peace, we must start within ourselves. So on behalf of white people everywhere, we love you, Beyonce, and we hope you love us, too.
As for Tomi Lahren: "She did it to get attention. Congratulations, you made headlines." Her words, not mine.
