Tom From '500 Days of Summer' Sucks

Ready for me to ruin a movie that you probably love? Good.

"(500) Days of Summer" is a rom-com that upon first seeing it, you probably hated Zooey Deschanel's character, Summer.

Let me quickly summarize. Tom, is our protagonist, is a moody, lonely greeting card writer who meets Summer at work. They begin to date, he falls madly in love with her, but their relationship ends quickly and later she goes off to marry someone else. Tom goes through a really hard time in life following their break up, but by the end (*SPOILER*), he gets a new job and meets a new girl and all is good in the world.

Since Tom is the main character of this film, a lot of people view Summer as the bitch who left him. But guess what, Tom is an emotionally unavailable, selfish piece of garbage. Tom is a sad boy and sad boys ruin our lives. Summer is a bad person because she told Tom she didn't want anything serious and then after she dumps him she gets engaged to someone else. Have you ever thought of what would have happened if Summer stuck around for sad boy Tom? He would've been a sad boy forever! He would've stayed at his shitty job, jealous of Summer for being better at it than him. He would have always treated her like his therapist but would never be there to emotional support her. Even if maybe she pushed him to become an architect, he would have left her for that office assistant.

Tom sucks. Summer deserved better than Tom. Sad boys don't deserve great girls, but we all see them in these movies and we feel bad for them and then we all want a sad boy. Every indie romcom in the world romanticizes the sad boy, who is dumped by the manic pixie dream girl and we hate her for leaving him. But the girl has to leave him but no one deserves to be treated like a therapist in their relationship and not have the favor returned.

Sad boys are selfish. They think a great girl will fix all their problems, but they are never there for you.

Stay away from Tom's. No matter how cute, or sweet, or artistic they think they are, or that they have mental issues and you think you can help them and that they'll be nice to you they won't! Boys ain't shit.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
