1. Our tuition is lower.
Currently, UT students are paying $9,242 per year, while BG students are paying $10,606 per year.
2. UT is more generous with scholarships.
Just for my high school GPA and ACT score, UT is giving me $6,500 per year. At Bowling Green, I would’ve only gotten about $4,000.
3. Our mascot is cooler.
Rockets are powerful. They not only represent innovation, but also force. Falcons, on the other hand, are a pretty common bird—nothing particularly exciting.
4. Our campus is prettier.
When it comes to looks, there’s really no competition between us.
5. Our campus is more convenient.
Our academic buildings are almost entirely grouped around one central area. In BG, they’re more spread out. And with winters as brutal as both of our schools experience, our close buildings definitely put us ahead.
6. Our colors are better.
Aesthetically speaking, our colors are better. Psychologically speaking, our colors are still better. Blue is said to represent loyalty, confidence and tact. Gold represents sophistication, success and triumph. Brown, on the other hand, is sometimes seen as dull or cheap and orange is looked at as being over-bearing and dependent.
7. We’ve been around longer.
UT was established back in 1872. BG didn’t come about until 1910.
8. Our football team wins.
Proof: The Rockets have taken down the Falcons for the past five (soon to be six) years.
More proof: Coach Campbell tried BG out for a while, but ultimately he ended up here... probably because we're just better.
9. There’s so much more to do in Toledo.
Mud Hens and Walleye games, Franklin Park Mall, Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo Zoo, Imagination Station and the Toledo Botanical Garden are just a few of the attractions located right here in Toledo, just minutes from our campus. Bowling Green has a golf course.
10. We aren’t referred to as “BGSTD” or “the STD capital of the world.”
There have been rumors for a long time that BGSU has more STDs than any other college campus. After much searching, I was unable to find any truth to this. Rumors are important, though—especially when it comes to sex—and the fact that UT isn’t known for having obnoxiously high STD rates is another plus for us.
11. All of our dorms are air conditioned.
Can you say the same, BG? No. No you can’t. We win. Again.
12. We have more dining halls.
And a few of them are located inside dorms (unlike at Bowling Green), which means less time spent running out in the cold for food.
13. Night-time walks are much more… exciting (if that’s the word you want to use) here.
In BG, I bet people hardly ever worry that they’re going to be mugged/assaulted/killed/kidnapped while walking home at night. How boring!
