A Letter To My Friend That Is Graduating

A token of my gratitude

A Letter To My Friend That Is Graduating

Dear Beautiful,

I hope your semester has been going fine. You are almost graduating and that is scary, let's face it, you’re probably terrified. But it is going to be fine. Ed Helms said, “Don’t be afraid of fear. Because it sharpens you, it challenges you, it makes you stronger; and when you run away from fear, you also run away from the opportunity to be your best possible self.”

I love this quote because it encourages me to keep going even after everything fails. Even when I do not feel like walking, it tells me that it is OK to crawl, it is OK to be afraid of the future, it is OK to not have as some may say “my stuff together.” The only issue is that it is not OK for you to give up. It is not OK to let other people tell you how to live your life. As you graduate, I hope that you keep this in mind.

I love that you are always here for me. Your kindness is greatly appreciated. I love that you always notice whenever something is wrong with me, and you try to make me feel better by buying me chocolates and making me smile. THANK YOU so much. You have made my college life so much better and I thank God for putting you in my life. Meeting you has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I am going to miss our late night Walmart runs and all the moments we shared from singing and dancing in Walmart to hanging out with you during the summer. Life around here is going to be quite boring without you, but that is okay because I know wherever you are, you will be putting smiles on people’s faces and making their lives better.

I hope that you achieve all your dreams and that you succeed at everything you plan to do. I hope you have a life full of blessings and adventures because you deserve it. No matter what happens in the future, I want you to know that you will always be in my thoughts and that you have a special place in my heart. I love you and I will miss you more than you can ever imagine.

Love,

Your buddy.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
