Last Saturday, tragedy struck Little Rock, Arkansas Shopping mall where a grandmother was taking her three-year-old grandson to the mall. It was supposed to be a normal day shopping, but things took a wrong turn.
On the way to JCPenny that Saturday evening, Kim King-Macon had to wait at a stop sign. She was driving her maroon Dodge Charger with her three-year-old Acen King in the back. While she was sitting at the stop sign, a driver behind her was being impatient, and he honked his horn.
So the grandmother honked hers back, according to Police Department spokesman Lt. Steven McClanahan. The man was so agitated that he got out of his Black Chevrolet Impala and fired into her car. “One shot was fired and it went through the vehicle and hit the child,” McClanahan said.
When the grandmother was driving away, she did not realize her grandson was shot until she went to get him out of the car. Around 6:30 p.m., 911 received several calls from a bystander, telling the operator that the little boy had been shot. What was worse, is that the Grandmother performed CPR to her child after seeing that he was wounded in the neck.
The paramedics transported the boy to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to the police report, there was another child in the back of the car. The only information about the child was that it’s a one-year-old.
On Monday, the Police released the 911 recording of the grandmother’s frantic voice on the phone. The Police continued to search Tuesday for the gunman who killed the child and have offered a $40,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. The killer is still at large and The Mercy Church Pastor Terrance Long is calling on the people of Little Rock to help the police catch the killer.
