As school is set to begin for most of us in just a few weeks, we are starting to think about supplies, classes, and the next semester. For some of us we are thinking about the morning drives, parking passes and the label we will receive as a group of 'commuters'. So here's a toast to my fellow commuters as summer rolls into class time.
Heres to the money we will spend on parking passes and making sure our gas gauges don't hit zero. We will be wishing that gas was 10 cents cheaper and parking passes were good for longer than a semester.
This ones for the extra hour we're going to use to wake up and get ready. For all the times we have to plan ahead to make sure we don't leave books behind, sitting on our bed, or run around campus without any breakfast.
Here's to that intersection, you all know the one, where everyone dashes through, almost clipping the car next to them. And here's a cheers, for the horn blasts for being the car that almost gets hit.
Here's to remembering we're saving money and gaining experience on life and time management. Remember that with this money we are saving we are buying our freedom and lower student debt.
Keep your glasses in the air for the times we will screw up and have to work with what we have. The scrap piece of paper, the dollar from our friends, or for pretending we know what's going on in class when we slept in too late.
To wrap up this toast remember, we as fellow commuters all know the struggle. The head nods when we talk about the disaster that is parking lots, the hike to get to classes, and the storms that roll in as we decide to head to school.
Here's to being in a little club of growing up a bit faster, loving our cars a bit more, and understanding how much five minutes can make all the difference in the world.
Cheers!
