To Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate?

That is not a question.

To Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate?
Huffington Post

A few people on my news feed are promoting not vaccinating children. I have many issues with this topic, and I have already expressed my disdain on social media. I thought I could go into further explanation of my issues with Anti-vaxers.

One of the things that makes me furious about Anti-vaxers, is that they never have reputable sources. They have their copy and pasted sources from Facebook groups, whose sole purpose is to make them feel like they are doing a good thing by not vaccinating their children. The best part is there is no way they read this stuff themselves (no one reads ten paragraphs worth of source links), but they have the audacity to try to make other people waste their time on it. Their sources are always internet sources; they can never find any published studies that prove their message, and I just personally think that any reliable study would be in a book somewhere.

These are also people with no education in science. They couldn't tell you the first thing about how your immune system actually works, but could tell you how vaccines are endangering the youth. That is like me talking about how to run a business; I have absolutely no education in business, so I have no right to talk about it. If you can't even tell me basic immune definitions, then you are not a reliable person to get my information from. One Anti-vaxer told me that I couldn't believe anything my college taught me about health because it was ran by "Big Pharmaceutical Companies." They will say anything to dismiss reliable information on this topic.

I could look past all of this, if it wasn't for the fact that their movement is putting children's lives in danger. Not only are they running the risk of their child dying from a disease we have a cure for, but they are also putting immunocompromised children at higher risk of catching disease. I honestly believe that if you are not going to vaccinate your child, you should not be able to keep your children; parents should be willing to do anything to keep their children alive. I also am 99% sure that every one of these mothers not vaccinating their children, for various reasons, were vaccinated as children. They are sitting here talking about the dangers of vaccines, when they have lived through every danger they are throwing out. I was vaccinated, and I am a perfectly healthy individual.

Scare tactics are pretty powerful things, and that is exactly why the Anti-vaccination movement is using them. They know that they can scare people who know nothing on the topic into believing the lies they have made up. Please vaccinate your children, for the sake of your child's life, and possibly the lives of others.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
