To those who suffer from anxiety,

Living with an anxiety disorder can become exhausting, both physically and emotionally. It feels like the walls are closing in and there’s no way out. Your chest is clenching, heart racing and gasping for air. A million thoughts are racing through your mind so fast you can’t even keep up with yourself. It feels like the world is about to end and all you can do is wait in excruciating anticipation.

But it doesn’t last forever.

The clouds will disappear and the rain will stop. The sun will come out again and shine so bright like you’ve never seen before. You will catch your breath and your mind will clear. You are so much more than your anxiety. Your anxiety does not define you. If you broke your leg, you’d be in a cast and eventually it would come off. Having a mental disorder is different. There is no “cast.” It’s like it’s invisible but it doesn’t mean it isn’t real, that it isn’t there. It requires every ounce of your strength, determination, and bravery. It never takes a day off. It needs to be worked on everyday, no matter if it is a little or a lot. All of the amazing and beautiful qualities you have are what defines you. Your strength, courage, helpfulness, trustworthiness, and intelligence to name a few.

Think of all the things that make you happy. Big or small. Remember the big, goofy smile that lights up your face. Your family and friends are your biggest cheerleaders. They can help you more than you think, but only if you let them. Sing your favorite songs, watch your favorite movies, read your favorite books, cook your favorite meal. Think of those things when you feel like the world is ending, when the walls are closing in because those things are what keep you going. Do not be afraid to ask for help and do not be afraid to get better. It is a long, hard road but the work is most definitely worth it. Don’t be afraid to believe in yourself, don’t forget to take chances and most importantly, don’t forget to live. Life is too short to just survive. Life is what you make it. Do everything you can to make it the best it can possibly be and make yourself proud. You’re stronger than you think, I promise.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
