The past few years have been nothing other than an excuse to further the country's divide as Presidential Candidates were picked apart and eventually slimmed to just one. This next week is going to be a scatter of emotions for people of all ages, and instead of writing about something political, I wanted to talk about something near and dear to my heart.

Yesterday, I was wandering through the aisles of the grocery store, searching for a low-calorie snack for me to store in my dorm room. I passed crackers, granola, and macaroni and cheese until I found the mother of all snacks... the classic, and highly enjoyable, peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I, of course, prefer crunchy peanut butter, sweet orange marmalade, and a multi-grain bread (if that doesn't describe my personality than I'm not sure what could). As I loaded the jar of peanut butter, the jar of marmalade, and the loaf of bread into my cart, I couldn't help but dream about the masterpiece I was about to create the second I walked back into my dorm.

As I whipped the door of my dorm open, I threw all of the other things I had bought aside and I searched through the bags for the three items that were about to turn my great day into an even better one. I grabbed a paper towel from my desk and laid it down to act as a plate, because apparently during all of the excitement of rediscovering a PB&J sandwich I forgot half of the items on my list, including but is not limited to, plates. I searched through all of my storage bins to find a knife, but I must have forgotten them also, so I found a spoon that would do the job just as well. I laid all of these pieces onto my table and I could feel myself salivating as my hands began to craft a five star meal for myself. I couldn't make this sandwich quick enough. I was stumbling and spilling chunks of marmalade all over the place, but when I took the first bite of this beautiful gift from the heavens, I swear everything felt right in the world!

So, long story short. Go to the store and make a freaking peanut butter and jelly sandwich because it will solve all of your problems.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
