To Those That Are Scared,
This is to everyone that saw the election last night and are scared. To those that don't know what to do with themselves now. To those that feel like we moved backwards and are afraid to what that means.
Everything will be okay.
It might not seem like it, but it will. In time.
The election scared a lot of people last night. It made them afraid for their safety and for their friends and family because a lot of hate was spewed during this campaign season.
So here's what I want everyone to know. People love and care about you.
I love and care about what happens to every single one of you.
I don't want to see this country move backward and away from equality. I want to see us move forward, and I want to give everyone who was shaken up hot chocolate and tea and wrap you in a blanket.
I saw a lot of tears after the election results came out. I saw people call their moms and people wearing all black like it's a funeral. However you want to deal with this news, that's alright.
Now isn't a time for hate, though. Now is a time for solidarity and caring for one another. No one deserves to feel afraid for their future or their loved one's future. It's a time to remind ourselves of who is around us and who we can care for.
It's a time to remember that little acts of kindness make all of the difference in the world.
If you want to get involved now that the election is over, this is the time to do it. Find those groups that will help build you and others up instead of tearing people down. Don't put yourself in danger, but take a stand if you want to. There's plenty of places all over the country that work towards moving forward.
We're meant to care and protect each other. We can stand up for what is right and what we believe without tearing others down. Standing up for those without a voice and with a voice is just as important.
Things will be okay, though. I promise. We just need to move forward with each other as one.
So things might not look good now. I agree, and it is kind of scary. We have each other though, and we can all move on from there. Last night was scary, but we aren't alone.
We'll make it through this, and we'll move forward.
I promise.
Love,
Someone Who Cares
