Four Generations Of Love.

To The Women Who Made Me Who I Am

Every little girl has a woman to look up to as they grow up. There is so much beauty and something so powerful about being a woman. I am so lucky to have had the greatest ladies to look up to throughout my life. My Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma inspired me, loved me and shaped me into the young woman I am today and I could not be more thankful.

The foundation of my family has always been love, ever since the very beginning when my Great Grandma became a Mom. I have two awesome great aunts and the best Grandma in the world because of her. She put family first, no matter what was going on and she never stopped loving her family unconditionally. She was strong, opinionated, compassionate and absolutely beautiful from the inside out.

Her beauty and wisdom spread throughout my family and her traits were passed down to her daughters, onto theirs and then onto my generation. My Great Grandma showed us all what it means to be a great mother, sister, daughter and friend.

I find myself so blessed to have been able to grow up with a Great Grandma in my life for 18 years and she will live in my heart for all of my life. She shaped every woman in my family in some way and I owe it all to her, her kind heart and her beautiful soul.

My Grandma is the sweetest and most selfless woman I have ever met. She has such a kindness about her, but also has strength like no one else. She puts others above herself every single day and has the kind of heart I hope to have someday. She has done so much for me throughout my life and our bond is so special. I am so thankful for her for loving me the way she does and always being someone to lean on.

My Mom is not only my Mom, but is also my best friend. She knows me like no one else and has influenced me in so many ways. Every one tells me that I am just like her and I always take that as a compliment. My Mom is strong, outspoken, kind, smart and absolutely beautiful. She puts her family first and works so hard for us every day. I truly have the best Mom in the world.

I see so much of all three of these women in myself as I continue to grow into who I am meant to be and that is such a wonderful thing. I have been inspired by them in so many ways and I strive to become more like them every day. I hope to be as wise, intelligent, kind, hardworking and compassionate as them. I hope to become a wife as loving and supportive as they are. I hope to be the kind of Mother that loves and cares for her children like they have.

There aren't enough words to explain how grateful I am for the women in my life. They have molded me into the young woman I am today. They loved me, shared their wisdom and gave me everything I need to be the best woman I can be. I owe them all of my success and all of my abilities. I can only hope that someday I will have every quality that I admire them for having.

Being a Mother is such a beautiful thing. It is powerful and touching and absolutely incredible. Make sure to always thank the women that created you and shaped you into the person you are today and make every second with them count.

"She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue."

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
