Nine months ago, I never knew how much I would be impacted by a such a special group of girls. I didn't know that I would find my best friends. And I really didn't know everything that God had in store for me and these beautiful women. You are not just a group of girls to me. You are my happy place. You are my home. You are 112 Olympic Blvd. You are my friends and my family. And together, we are the Epsilon Pi chapter of Alpha Delta Pi.

Joining a sorority was something totally new to me, and I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. Joining a group of 200+ girls without knowing the majority of them was scary at first. That quickly changed once I realized the genuine character that each girl possessed. Thank you for seeing the good in me, and for loving me for who I truly am. You have shown me so much love, and I will always be blessed by you. As a chapter, you are constantly uplifting my soul, and helping me be the best me that I can be. I want to thank you for all that you have given me in nine short months.

Friends. During my first year as an Alpha Delta Pi, I have made strong relationships with these girls that would seem to take years to build. We are all unique in our own ways, yet we all have a bond that links us together. I know that I will always have 200+ sisters that I can count on. Our open motto says it all: "We Live For Each Other", and I can say that we truly do live for each other. I have found my sisters, my best friends, my roommates and my bridesmaids. I don't think that it was a mistake that each and every one of us was placed in this chapter at the same time; God knew exactly what he was doing when He united us.

Faith. Faith is something that I have always had, but when I joined Alpha Delta Pi, my faith grew tremendously. My faith in God, myself and others has been tested and strengthened throughout this past year. There is just something so special about the relationships that each and every girl in our chapter holds with our Lord and Savior. I have watched our faith as a chapter spread like a wildfire over these past nine months, and I know that our girls will continue to spread this awesome faith with others. So many of you have been a light to me on a daily basis. You have a love for Jesus that is so contagious. I could not have gotten through my freshman year of college without the faith that these women have given me. I am so grateful to have these beautiful women that encourage me on my walk with Jesus.

Epsilon Pi, thank you for genuinely loving me for who I am.

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
