To the woman who has taught me everything,

Who you are as a person has never ceased to amazing me. You have always made sure that everyone around you is okay. To those who have wronged you and continue to wrong you, you have shown nothing but kindness and have always kept smiling. You are the bravest woman I know, and for that I will always be thankful.

You have taught me everything you know, from how to choose my own battles and how to always treat myself as a princess. You were able to teach me how to stand up for myself but also how to pride myself on still being OK, even when my days became weak and cold. I will always cherish each moment you were with me, especially when I had needed you the most.

You have made me stronger than I once was and I am now ready for whatever college and life has decided to bring onto my path of success. I know that you will always be by my side and support me with whatever decision I decide to make. I know I will succeed with your help, because I can achieve anything with a supporter and believer as strong as lions — as strong as you.

I love you with all my heart and I promise that I will be OK. I will be able to conquer my doubts, because you've taught me to be tougher than even my toughest storms. I will be able to love fully and kindly, as that is who I am and am no longer afraid to be. I know that I will win and you will see me cross my finish line. You will be able to see me smile, as I receive my degree because I am the daughter of a woman who can cast storms, vibe with nature, and run with the wolves. In the words of Carrie Underwood: "You have given me everything that I will need, so now you have to let your baby fly."

I will be alright, I promise, so please do not worry about me, mom.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
