To The Staff At Lockport

I'll be back, don't worry.

It took me around two weeks to make the notes. All three hundred thirty notes, hand written.

Each note had a unique saying on them.

It took me half a period. I got permission from my teacher, set my target on a bathroom, and got to work.

When realizing I had ten minutes left, I recruited some help.

We hung all of the notes. We hung my posters.

I never thought that they would have the impact that they did.

My snapchat was full of pictures of the notes. A girl was crying on her story because they made her so happy. It was shared around, girls took notes, girls added more notes.

It made so many girls smile.

It made so many girls smile.

Here's where my problem comes into play.

You took them down. You threw them out. Into the garbage.

There are pieces of notebook paper in the hallways that say "Help Stop Bullies Now Please" in crayon. That took twenty seconds.

A girl recently told a muslim girl to hang herself with her hijab, but that's okay, because it's freedom of speech, right?

Lockport is full of so much hatred between girls. We walk the hallways ad judge each other. We trash talk each other in whispers and secret messages. We bully each other like nobody gets hurt.

We encourage self hatred.

We call each other best friends, and as soon as our backs are turned we hate each other.

We're all so fake to each other.

So here we are.

I'm pretty disappointed, Lockport. I really am.

Not one of those notes hurt anyone.

Not ONE.

I never thought I could come to the point where I would actually not want to be a part of the school so bad.

I will be back, and bigger than before.

Self love is something every girl, no, every human being deserves.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
