To The Rookies

Now that you're famous, your life will never be the same.

As the first day of the NBA draft comes to a close, adrenaline is still steadily flowing. Some of the top college and international athletes have officially made it to the top level of competition in basketball. However, there are some things they all need to remember.

1. You are now, once again, the bottom of the food chain.

We get it. You were the star. Remember what it was like to be a freshman in high school? Yeah, you're back to that. While you may be the butt of the jokes and the new pack mule for the team, you will learn more than you think from those who are more experienced than you.

2. Your life is no longer just your own.

The days of "boyish" mistakes and juvenile outbursts on social media are over. As you live your life, fans — many of them children — will follow your every move. Be a role model, not a menace.

3.Don't blow all your money.

While you are in the prime of your life and have no worries, you will one day. Remember that an ACL tear or your team deciding they need your salary to attract a superstar free agent could be around any corner. Set money aside. Plan for the future.

4. Take care of your family and friends.

From whoever raised you to the people who have supported you from the minute you began your basketball career, remember the little people. When your career is over, the fans won't love you like they used to. Your family and friends will.

5. Don't Manziel out.

Go to practice. Don't party too hard. Respect your coaches.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
