I am taking a class this semester that is very subjective to other’s views. It is no one’s fault, but I actually find myself sometimes uninterested in going to class, simply because my other classmates and professor assume that everyone has one view. Of course that everyone hates Trump and voted for Hilary because that makes the most sense. Right?
Wrong.
I am sick of hearing even now in April about the election and the results of it. It’s time to accept what it is, I truly think that, but even more important I think that it’s time to stop bashing the Trump supporters.
I have written time and time again that I am a Trump supporter and I am proud, but I am at the point where I am so over having to defending myself for it. It is March 30th, the election was November 8th, and I don’t want to hear about what it says about me, a woman, for voting for Trump. Especially when they are making a generalization and they do not know who in the class voted for Trump. Maybe I am the only one in this 15 person class who voted for him, but even if I am the only one, you will not know that if you do not ask, and you will not know that if you make negative generalizations about his supporters.
I think we all need to just take some time and stop thinking about what could have been, and try and focus on what it is. Stop talking about what it says about me that I voted for him, and stop bashing everyone and everything that has to do with the President.
I am so over talking about this, and hearing it, and dealing with it. I want everyone to have freedom of speech and expression, but then you have to expect that I will speak up as well. In my class I did not say anything for fear of a lower grade, or even dirty looks from my classmates.
However, here I am and I am saying I am a woman, I voted for Trump and I am proud. So the generalization of my professor and my classmates will be ignored, I am not going to hear it anymore.
