You're driving down a two-lane road and the person in front of you is swerving between the lanes. You go to pass them and you see they're on their phone not even noticing that you are next to them. It is this kind of irresponsible behavior that is killing so many innocent people. Texting while driving is now the number one cause for teen deaths in America.
The question for everyone who does text while driving is simple: Why don't you just wait until you're home to answer that text, snapchat or facebook message?
And every time there is no real answer, no excuse for someone to look at their phone. Majority of people will say to you and admit that they text and drive, they laugh it off like this is the norm and that it isn't illegal and dangerous. In high school and during driving classes they tell you that each time someone looks at their phone while going around 55 miles an hour, it is like going the distance of an entire football field. Some people question that and think it's okay if they use their phone for less time than that or just peak down at it. Let's be real, we all know that even just a peak can cause a problem.
In just a few seconds a child could drop their ball in the road and run after it, someone could decide to cross the street, a car could pull out of a driveway, a dog or cat could run to their owner across the street and guess what? You won't use those few seconds wisely because you will be too focused on your phone, putting yourself and others into danger.
So, every time you want to answer someone's text, phone call, snapchat or any other form of social media be prepared for the consequences; because in just a second you could change your life and someone else's life for the worse. A car wreck is never a joke and the memories of it can be disabling. The text can honestly wait, so please do.
