To The Parents We're Leaving Behind
Huffington Post

Leaving home is one of the most bittersweet things you'll ever do. Living with friends and being on your own is a great feeling but also a scary one.

It's important to take a moment and thank the people who got you to this point. Your parents are your biggest supporters and inspirations. We all want to make sure that they know just because we are leaving, doesn't mean we will forget about them or need them any less. Honestly, we probably need them more than ever.

Without you guys, who would help us set up our rooms, move a ridiculous amount of times (cause that's what college is), cook more than just Ramen, and remind us to do our laundry. You are becoming a more important person in our lives than ever before and becoming more like our friends. Coming home to you is the most comforting feeling and takes away the stress of college. When you come up for dinner is the best nights ever (and it means a free meal, we love that too). So remember, even when we are trying to be grown ups and do things on our own we still need you guys more than ever. The hardest part about leaving for college was leaving you guys.

We just need you to know we love you and are so thankful for everything you do, and remember that just because we are leaving, doesn't mean we are leaving you behind or need you any less.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
