With the new school year starting, anxiety is at an all time high. That means to the overthinkers, like me, that your mind is racing with a list of things you have to do before school starts. This can lead to mega stress, which may start hiding the actual excitement of going to college.

Your freshman year is supposed to be the time of your life, so why ruin it by overthinking?

While the lists that are starting to stack up may seem helpful, they're adding to your stress. You've checked your list twice over, yet you still worry that you're missing something important. Luckily, wherever you live will have everything you need close by, so if you are forgetting something you are able to go out and get it. Allow yourself some room on your lists to breathe and enjoy your last days at home, because before you know it, you're not going to be at home with your family and friends anymore. Don't let the stress ruin that time that you have.

Any anxieties you have about going up there most likely won't even happen to you. You think that it will be some scene out of a movie where you don't fit in, but there is a group of friends for everyone at college. Study hard, have fun, and be yourself. That's the only way to ensure a good first semester of college.

And once you're there, here are some tips for when you are overthinking. Take a walk around campus to clear your mind. Sit in the library to minimize distractions while you're studying to make sure of good grades. Use your over-thinking to your advantage by writing out everything you have to do within the week a week early so then you feel more prepared and less worried about missing something.

Don't forget to go out and have a good time. While you are there for your education, the social aspect of college is equally as important. Make sure you find time to do the type of things you want to do with the people you want to do it with. You deserve it.

To all you overthinkers -- embrace it. Make it into a power instead of a weakness. In the end of the quick four years of undergrad you won't want to look back and realize that you spent all your time stressed out and worried. Live your college experiece to the fullest, because it will all blow by fast.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
