To the Ones with the Tiny Little Runners:

First off, you might be wondering what in the world a "Tiny Little Runner" is.

Well for me, it's my fear. It's my anxiety. It's my inability to be okay with what's coming. My Tiny Little Runner who is located in my mind never stops when she's thirsty, and she never takes a moment to come up for air. She is always running, and she seems to take away my happiness with life away from me. While she is running her marathon, my heart is making up for her consistent running. It's beating louder than it should, harder than it should, and more than it should.

So, that Tiny Little Runner inside of you might be that fear, that anxiety, or that inability to be okay with what's going on in your life, and what's to come. Runners, I think, are different for everyone. No one has the same one, and every single one comes in different shapes and sizes. Sometimes, it's uncontrollable, much like mine, or sometimes, you're the coach of your Runner, but it rebels from your orders every now and then.

Well, I'm here to tell you that our Runners, while they seem to have it all together, and they seem to never want to back down from what they want to do, we have the ability to fight back.

Prayer, meditation, nature... These are our allies. You can choose to practice all of them, or only one. Either way, taking those walks, or simply sitting still and listening to yourself breathe, it calms your heart down. It forces your Runner to slow down, too.

But, the best thing to do to make you Runner stop is to talk about your Runner... whether that be through counseling or through fellowship with friends. Having that confidant in your life makes all the difference, I promise.

Together, we will slow down our Runners. Those Tiny Little Runners inside our minds will know what it means to take in the scenery and breathe naturally again. Our hearts will find a way to smile again, and that all comes with time.

And love. Lots of love.

And finally, hope.

Hope has the capability to save you.

So, let it.

Love,

Alayna and her very own Tiny Little Runner

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
